I sent my five year old here because I wanted specifically to find a place that would encourage his imagination and his collaborative skills, rather than a "stagecoach" approach. (I come from a drama background).

Highly recommend it. It's also one of the very few National Portfolio Organisations of the Arts Council - a seal of approval in my books. And it's reasonably priced, meaning it naturally encourges a mixed and diverse group of kids - which was also very important to me.

My six year old grandson attends The Hunt Academy for Young Actors at Telegraph Hill Centre (HAYA) in Brockley.

They have well-established classes for juniors and seniors, with a similar approach to what you could expect at top drama schools; our grandson goes to the new 'Minis' on Fridays and absolutely loves it!

    • The Palmerston is open for meals on Christmas Day. I imagine The Cherry Tree will be again. We had a truly terrible meal there on Christmas Day last year which cost us £100 each without drinks, so I wouldn't recommend you book there 😭
    • Wow..has this forum gone down the pan..  Admin??  Two topics which do not make any sense at all.. Survey Horniman and asking for fireworks..       Sorry for fireworks - did not read clearly - my mistake wanted tickets..
    • Does anyone know what local pubs/restaurants will be open this year for Xmas serving lunch?
    • That’s interesting, Dulwich Dweller; my 70 yr old neighbour told me 2 weeks ago that he’d left work early to go and book in person (being uncomfortable with all the online & app stuff) and was explicitly told that he needed to go away and book online. He’s not the sort of person to be insistent and, like a lot of older people, a bit embarrassed at his lack of digital ability, so he left without the appointment . This is my point about inconsistency, since his experience was quite different from yours. I’m beginning think that it rather depends on who, at Reception, you speak to on day…
