supergolden88
My son almost always gets a leaky nappy around 4/5am even though he is changed between 11/12. He also frequently leaks during the day when the changes are much more frequent. We switched to Huggies Extra Dry when this happened first but now those nappies are useless. He is possibly between a size 3 and a size 4 (the 4 ones are way too big) and my husband thinks it's a boy thing since my daughter never had this problem.Any other nappies I should be trying? I can't be the only one with this problem! The 4/5am change in particular is very bad news as he thinks he is up for the day and impossible to put down again unless he comes into our bed. ladywotlunches
I've been using the sainsburys Eco nappies from pretty much the beginning. A few leaks, but nothing major. A is now in size 4, but only just, so I'd try the 3's for now. (haven't got any left otherwise you could have had a couple to try). Huggies I've always found to be quite 'narrow', so this could be the problem if he's wriggling at night? supergolden88
I may have to go do a major shop and try different nappies. He has also now discovered how to pull the tabs off and open the nappy - oh the fun we are having with that! Moi23
Silly question really, but do you make sure his willy is pointing down? Sometimes with my first if it was pointing upwards he'd leak quite a bit. supergolden88
I do it makes no difference. Always leaks out the side. Perhaps a different brand of nappies may be the answer Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16663-leaky-nappies/#findComment-425740 Share on other sites
Moi23
Yes that might be the ticket. I've always used pampers, never had much problem. Only other thing I can suggest is making sure the side elastic is straight and not caught in his bum. Used to cause problems if he was wiggling around a lot when getting the knappy on. Bumpkin
I definitely found Pampers the best when my son was younger and never had a problem with leaks. Did find Huggies leaked though. bumpy
I'm a cloth nappy user with disposables at night. If nothing else works buy a couple of Motherease wraps and put these over the top of the disposables. I resorted to this when my boy was between sizes and works a treat.http://www.babykind.co.uk/wrapsairflow.htm Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16663-leaky-nappies/#findComment-425786 Share on other sites
Trish
I'd second pampers baby dry size 3 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16663-leaky-nappies/#findComment-425821 Share on other sites
njc97
We had lots of problems with leaks out of the side with our little boy (to begin with, 2/3 times a night, which was a lot of fun). We found that nappies with elastic at front and back worked a lot better - the Nature ones in Sainsburys were good, or bamboo ones. Pampers were rubbish, unfortunately. We also had problems with "overloading" during the night - it indicated it was time to move up a size, even if he looked a bit silly in giant nappies. candj
Weird, as I too have to think it's a boy thing. My two girls never had leaky nappies and now our little boy has had several without even having very heavy or full nappies. We use Huggies organic cotton nappies (I used Huggies with the girls) and the fit is fine and snug just depends where, as Moi23 suggests, his willy is pointing (up or down), sorry if too much information :-$ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16663-leaky-nappies/#findComment-426037 Share on other sites
