Lyndhurst primary catchment

Dear all,

Does anyone have any idea of the broad catchment area of Lyndhurst Primary School on Camberwell Grove? The school cannot confirm the furthest distance they have admitted from. I live in Herne Hill and just want to gauge whether the school is even a remote possibilty for September 2012.

hi localmum1, we live approx 450m from the school but missed out this year. We weren't even anywhere close, I know a lot of parents much closer to the school who also didn't get a place.

The catchment this year was tiny, but who's to say what it will be next year.

Thanks so much for getting back to me - really helpful. I'm a bit stuck to be honest as our local primary doesn't look good and I'm finding the prospect of private too daunting...

I know of a family who live in Herne Hill and they got offered at place at the Village school. Surely that is not the primary school you are referring to?

It depends which part of Herne hill you are in and unfortunately we're on the wrong side for the village school. I believe the furthest they have ever taken is 700m... Just looking at other options and wondered whether Lyndhurst might be any easier. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be.

When I spoke to the village infants (pre 2011 admissions), they said the furthest distance for 2010 admissions was 850 metres, so worth a try? Also, what about Rosendale? Whereabouts in Herne Hill are you?

Rosendale offers didn't go further than about 600 metres or so in the first round this year..

It all feels like a bit of a nightmare. I think we may end up looking at moving out of London altogether!
