Just wanted to share with those of you currently suffering the hell of the 5.30am wake-up call. It's now 7.45am and none of my children are awake yet! Nowadays this is not that unusual.

This will be you too, you will sleep in again. Take heart and be patient, it will come.

I aught to add that I have actually done my time in the "it's still dark(ish), it's not morning" years. So this post is intended to give you hope for the future not mocking your present predicament. All sympathy to you.

Also, to those of you with two children- when my sister was born, I was 6. By the time she was 6mo, she'd wake at 8am, and I'd take her into my bed and play with her/entertain her . Mum had no idea (deep sleeper) and thought she naturally slept till 9:45am (on weekends) and THEN I'd take her out of her cot.

I cannot wait for my children (both cheeky and in utero) to LET ME SLEEO.

Its lovely this lying in business, isn't it? 8.15am for me today and that was only because husband was off to work and wanted to say goodbye :-S

But then, but then ... something deeply odd and masochistic in me has a hankering for those 6am starts.. You had an excuse to go to bed at 10pm, plus dawn is very lovely. Even in Lunnun.

8 years on with 2 monsters.

I have completely forgotten what

A layin is. Littleman wakes up around

5.30-6.00 and my daughter around 6.30.

When my daughter stays at nannys she lays in till

9.00 why oh why can't she do that at home.

Just wish littleman would stay at nannies.

Hopefully within the next couple of years

I will get a lay in lol

Good luck ladies

    • Another recommendation for Dulwich Test and Services Centre. Only been using them for a couple of years but wish I’d found them earlier
    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
    • It's not really though, is it. It's practical.  At least we're allowed Christmas lights.
