filming in peckham rye

just got back from hols and drove down to peckham rye to walk the dog and was met by a very busy carpark with filming vans etc anyone know what there filming ?

think it's something to do with a property show, there was filmcrew inside bushells on lordship lane earlier

They're making a TV show about property? Can't wait to see that! Some people dare to say that meeja types are lazy overpaid cokeheads with as much imagination as a wilting stalk of rhubarb. But it's news like this that restores one's faith in the television industry. When's it going to be on?

Hmm most meeja types as you call them work in excess of 12 hour days six days a week and are on average wages or less with no job security/ pension etc.......it's not a job you choose if you are in it for money trust me.

You're absolutely right of course. Many media coal-face workers at the bottom end of the scale are treated appallingly in the indie sector; runners, researchers, asst producers - that kind of level. I think I was aiming my arrows of so-called "wit" at commissioning editors who earn 6 figures to decide that we want to see more property shows.

The problem for commissioning editors is that they now have numerous channels to fill and not enough money to spend making high end programming to fill them. There is a glut of cheap factual entertainment, and property shows are just part of that glut. There's not a lot that commissioning editors can do to change that.

The man in the newsagent's near to Curry Cabin said it was 'Spooks' that was being filmed this morning on LL.

Spooks usually films about now, and has often used this area, so that's plausible. But check for the little flourescent location/unit signs directing crew to the shoot. Signs for Spooks start SP (e.g. SP LOC, SP BASE etc). Can often have a guess at the production from the initials used in the location signs.

It is Spooks, we saw signs with character's names on them on some of the buses parked in the cafe carpark today. The director is a local so I guess it makes sense to stay on home turf to film!

Too big a unit base for commercials or magazine TV, so probably TV drama or film, like Spooks.

They are filming all over East Dulwich. This morning Chesterfield Road seemed to be the location - next to the car wash.

a bit patronising to 'lol' over a suggestion about directors not choosing locations. In fact, many directors do like to be involved in location scouting (in consultation with producers and location managers).

Location managers source suitable locations then directors and producers comment and ultimately the final decision will be related to cost. A show would never choose a location because one of it's dorectors lives nearby as was suggested above ;-)

I know that, I also know that some directors and producers are much more hands on with locations, castings etc than others, hence, I was suggesting that your lol was somewhat patronising.
