WARNING - DON'T SHOP AT PC WORLD!

I know that this poor excuse for a store is not exactly in East Dulwich but I'd advise everyone not to shop at PC WORLD as I've just had the worst experience of customer service ever in their Old Kent Road branch. It seems from a quick internet search that this is common knowledge but I just thought I'd share it with anyone that did not know how bad this company owned by Dixons, Curries etc is.

It's PC gone mad, I tell you.

I've been to that store - I'm surprised you actually found anyone to give you poor customer service. People on the ground in there were extremely well hidden. It was a bit like Python's 'How Not To Be Seen'.

Besides, anyone that steps into PC World without a little bit of computer knowledge is asking for it. Unless you need it right now, then Amazon and Dabs are your best bets.

I agree with Loz.

I bought my first ever PC from PC World. We had to wait a good 25 mins to find someone to serve us.

We then purchased a Packard Bell (aka Packard from Hell) PC at a vastly overinflated price.

I would recommend one of the following sites:

Dabs.com

Dell

If you want to read how a PC is rated...then get a copy of PC Plus or PC Pro magazine.

Tbey have first class reviews of PCs...very detailed and knowledgeable...far more than the average

PC World is fine if you know what you want. They do some great deals on some things. BUT I would never advise anyone goes there for PC advise or repair. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen customers given the wrong advice at the technical desk before being charged a ridiculous amount. PC repair at PC world is 'take the laziest route possible' even if that means someone loses all their (easily retrievable data) because they tell them that a reformat is the only option.

My most classic tale was being served by what looked like a 14 year old (at the reapir desk) who had never heard of a scsi drive or cable - I mean isn't that day one of an IT course????? I took him to his own stock counters and embarassed him proper.

    • Can someone please explain who "one Dulwich" are?
    • We are actually referred to as "Supporters"...2,100 of us across Dulwich...read and weep! 😉   https://www.onedulwich.uk/supporters   Got it, the one where 64% of respondents in the consultation area said they wanted the measures "returned to their original state". Is that the one you claim had a yes/no response question?   Well I suggest you read up on it as it is an important part of the story of utter mismangement by the councils and this is why so many of us can't work out who is pulling the council's strings on this one because surely you can agree that if the emergency services were knocking on your door for months and months telling you the blocks in the roads were delayihg response times and putting lives at risk you'd do something about it? Pretty negligent not to do so don't you think - if I was a councillor it would not sit well with me?   Careful it could be a Mrs, Miss or Mx One.....   Of course you don't that's because you have strong opinions but hate being asked for detail to.back-up those opinions (especially when it doesn't serve their narrative) and exposes the flaws in your arguments! 😉  As so many of the pro-LTN lobby find to their cost the devil is always in the detail.....
    • Really?  I'm sorry to hear that. What did you order?
