Kwayz
Is it just me or has parking on Pellatt Road really become congested? I've been a resident on this road for nearly two decades and have never come across it so bad! Is this just a theme on Pellatt Road or can other surrounding roads relate? DulwichFox
Same on Ulverscroft.. Market on a Saturday. I go shopping and cannot get back on Ulvercroft anywhere. Not just outside my house until after 6.00pm Friday Prayers at Mosque parking congested between 13.00 & 14.30 Parking difficult due to skips and builders lorries most days.. Also Sunday due to people driving to the area for Pubs and restaurants. Some people won't walk a couple of hundred yards. Definitely getting worse. Some residents on my road have 2 and even 3 vehicles. singalto
I'm on Pellatt road and dread driving anywhere as I often can't park near the house when I get home. I have ended up on Cyrena until the endless builders and school related cars leave. The Lordship pub had a LOT of weddings over the summer months so I am not sure if that has had an impact around weekends with guests parking on the road. Laroon
Ive been away for a few months (parking was quite good before I left) and came back recently and was shocked how congested the parking is now around Colwell Road / Melbourne Grove / Playfield Crescent area - it used to be relatively easy to get a parking space here but now its tricky, I have been wondering if there are any new parking restrictions in place elsewhere that are having a knock on effect? spider69
A new CPZ has come into effect on the area surrounding Lyndhurst Grove, Crofton Road etc. "The Toastrack".Not sure if this will effect you but many roads with free parking off of Bellenden Road seem to be solid. I can confirm that Chadwick Road and Grove Park, free parking at the moment, is solid. Move and you will never get back. No joke.It used to be that traffic moved in the evening now ever since this CPZ cars just sit and never move.Even untaxed/no mot are just left by Southwark even if reported. One less space to be usedIt certainly appears that Southwark want residents to request CPZ's as they move the problem elsewhere. It is residents who request a CPZ only because they have inherited someone else's problem not that they actually want one. alex_b
I wonder whether with the ongoing problems with Southern people are parking nearer Peckham Rye to take alternate trains into London. The extra double yellows haven?t helped either. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/169656-pellatt-rd-parking/#findComment-1186699 Share on other sites

I think it's scheduled to start in the New Year. So it cannot be the cause of problems elsewhere. Possibly it will be but it can't be yet. Reg Smeeton
Is this related to the new Harris school? Parking seems to have increased during the day. Maybe there are 20 staff working at that school now, and a few of them probably drive. Five cars would fill one side of the stretch between Colwell and Lordship Lane (or an equivalent segment on Pellatt). When that school is full it will have twice as many staff, so if staff are parking nearby, the problem will only increase. Lots of skips etc too. Builders can easily take out two parking spaces for weeks at a time. I saw 6 on McNiel Road last week. On the only 6 cars on the road. The warden is just riding around just looking to pounce. 2 weeks ago we did not have a problem, now we have a massive problem. If it is not in operation as you seem to think perhaps Southwark should cover all the signs up and refund the parking fines.Take a ride around on your bike and take a look. bargee99
Landcroft Road has also seen a very large increase in recent times. Maybe the school is having a much larger impact than the council said it would when they planned it. What a surprise! jimlad48
The Toastrack CPZ is definitely live - was due to have been 2nd, but slipped to 9th, and is now fully operational. Its made a massive difference to our lives, and the parking spaces we're enjoying is astounding compared to a few weeks ago. Its made us realise how many non residents were clogging up the roads. Sorry to other areas - anyone wanting to organise a CPZ campaign then delighted to offer tips on how to do it.Grove Park gets one soon too, so the pressure will increase even further on the few free zones left. sally buying
Thanks for confirming this. Not only Grove Park but Chadwick Road also plus all surrounding roads. The whole area is to be a CPZ. Up for consultation decision by Cabinet Member but already decided only needs to be rubber stamped. The whole area is now choked with pushed out commuter cars. Move and you never get backThen East Dulwich area is next Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/169656-pellatt-rd-parking/#findComment-1186993 Share on other sites

first mate
Very deliberate long game by council to get mass CPZ. They have been single- minded and determined, never missing an opportunity to heap more pressure onto car owners. Ostensibly this has been to force people out of cars thereby improving air quality and health (though the stresses of negotiating travel by public transport and bicycle may be less than healthy for some). It will be interesting to see if car ownership really is significantly reduced and air quality improves or it will all have been for nowt.
