All credit to Dulwich, and the score line flattered Carlisle in terms of possession, reflecting their clinical finishing.


The beer tent was excellent.


On the down side this showed us up for a ground that is not fit for these sort of attendances - poor views, lack of cover, even though a 1000 more could have easily fitted in, long toilet queues. Fine when I first went there 20 years ago with a few 100 in attendance. There is enough space to have proper terracing so not sure why this was not the case when it was built. I expect it is something to do with access that you need that wide pathway at the front which then makes the terracing very shallow behind it.

Resurrecting this general DHFC thread... the club announced last night the departure of first team manager Gavin Rose. Gavin had been in that position since 2009, a DHFC record, and did amazing things bringing the club up to the National League South. Alas, progress on the pitch seems to have stalled and the terrible results so far this year (we've lost four of the last five games) meant his departure became perhaps inevitable.

I wish Gavin well – he was a loyal, disciplined and brilliant leader for the team. Let's hope the club can find a manager to take us that step further.

Club Statement from Chairman Ben Clasper

Dulwich Hamlet Football Club

Departure of Gavin Rose

September 11, 2022


It is with enormous personal sadness that I have to announce that the club has decided not to complete and execute the contract extension for Gavin Rose’s role as men’s first team manager and he will leave the position with immediate effect.


It has been an honour and a pleasure to work alongside Gavin over the past four years and whilst we all knew the reality was that all managers eventually move on it was genuinely difficult to accept that time would ever come for us.


Simply thanking Gavin for all that he has achieved and wishing him every success in future feels hopelessly inadequate, he will always be part of the Dulwich Hamlet family and I sincerely hope this will not be the end of our association either personally or professionally.


Gavin has been responsible for many of the all-time high moments in living memory at the club and his contribution deserves the legendary status I have no doubt it will gain as people look back on what he has achieved here since his appointment in 2009 which makes him the club’s longest serving manager.


It is both those moments and the length of service that have been at the forefront of everyone’s minds as the board have worked hard on making the tough decisions in many areas both on and off the pitch to the benefit of Dulwich Hamlet Football Club and which we believe are necessary to deliver the long-term objectives we set in October 2018 when supporters stepped in to save and then rebuild the club.


The departure of any manager from any club is a difficult decision as it impacts everyone associated with the club but I say with no hint of exaggeration that I believe few clubs have been through a change of this magnitude and everyone at the club understands how de-stabilising this will be and is committed to steering us through the times ahead and the challenges that are bound to arise.

    • Hello all,  If your child goes to this gym club: since the new payment system, have you received clear information about the cost per session, the cost per term and when sessions will be omitted eg for school opened days? (I have asked the club, more than once, no full response so far) This term started in late August, before school had gone back (did many attend that session?). Next term there is no break for half term, so there are 12 sessions to be paid. Does that seem to be more sessions than there used to be?    I am sure they are doing their best, but the info from the new auto pay system isn’t detailed enough, and the auto pay just takes an unspecified amount. I wondered if it’s just me (wanting more detail), or if there are others too? (my child loves the gym itself!) thanks

They were able to come at reasonably short notice, arrived on time, were friendly and professional, and did a great job. Everything was left clean and tidy afterwards, and the lights look fantastic.     • For Plusnet, I pay £31.99 for Full Fibre 500.  (the number is the line speed you have paid for) I have recently recontracted.  Always phone them up, and ask what deal they can do for me.  Usually get a decent reduction.  Sue, I would suggest you call them, especially if you are close to contract renewal.  Sometimes they will change deals mid-contract, as I have found in the past.
