I got my makeup done by a Laura Mercier makeup artist in advance of my wedding last year. He recommended a combo of their Secret Concealer and Secret Brightening Powder. I was a bit skeptical until I looked in the mirror. The bags under my eyes had completely disappeared!

Actually, the whole experience was a revelation - I looked the best I've ever looked. Like me, but better - not like some clown/harlot version of me which was my fear when I sat down. But anyway?

The Secret Camouflage (square palette with two shades of concealer in it) is apparently a different formulation for other areas of the face.

I know it seems really expensive to buy a cream and a powder, but you hardly use any of either each time, so they last for ages. I have a feeling that it'll expire before I've used it all.

I wouldn't normally have gone for it, but because it was for my wedding I thought I'd give it a go. Now, I don't think I'd go back to what I used before (Touche Eclat - before I knew it was a highlighter and not a concealer) or some cheapy concealer.

Wow, thanks for that! I've had a touche eclat for ages but hardly used it as I couldn't work out how to put it on properly! Now I can see exactly what I was doing wrong, no more bags for me tomorrow, woohoo!

Boi-ing by Benefit for me! I was advised that it's not effective to use a lightener/ highlighter like YSL Touche as it won't cover dark circles......in fact they can amplify it. The trick is actually to go a slightly darker shade rather than lighter. I therefore have used Boi-ing No 2 for years and find it very effective.

That said, I'm now reading lots of support for Lauren Mercier which makes me tempted to try.....

I get puffy eyes and dark circles. On top of ysl I also use a jade stone to massage my face but also to immediately reduce the marks under my eyes at night and in the morning. I?ve just got this a cheapo one and it is just as good as the posh ones being touted about. https://amzn.to/2xYFiZj

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!
