SeanMacGabhann
Your local is the recently refurbed Forest Hill Tavern - about 5 mins walk away. Pretty decent place the few times I've been in there. Next to that is Omrith curry house which comes recommended from many of us forumites. And a pretty good grocers I understand is on that strip as well Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1747-ryedale-road-few-more-questions-sorry/#findComment-48971 Share on other sites
seanmlow
Hi Sean -Thanks. Think I have been spoilt living on East DUlwich Road for so long! I am quite looking forward to trying a new area. So where abouts do you reside? trinity
I think it is fine - I haven't encountered any problems.Thinking back over the past few years there has been a sexual assault outside the 1930's building beside the disused school on Peckham Rye and a shooting near Barry Road. But despite this I feel quite comfortable in the area. One thing I have noticed is a group of teenagers playing on skateboards on a street close to Ryedale - Cornflower Terrace. Whether they confine their activities to just skateboarding I don't know.2 Local pubs - The Herne Tavern and The Forest Hill Tavern. Both a couple of minutes walk away and with a reputation for good food. seanmlow
Cool - thanks guys!Just want to make sure it is an area my sister will feel comfortable walking back to after dark. So no dodgy shops with people loitering outside looking for trouble? Nero
BTW, we on the Forum (well, a certain section of us) call the area the Upper East Side. Hope this does not put you off us! seanmlow
Upper East Side = what do you mean by that? Good/bad? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1747-ryedale-road-few-more-questions-sorry/#findComment-49064 Share on other sites
Nero
Ha! It's ironic, in that the 'action' tends to be down the Green side of things, so I thought Upper East Side would denote our slightly outsider status. (Some readers may like to puke now.)
