Hi :)

Does anyone know what the procedure is to get a lollipop person outside our school?

I spoke to the dep. head and she said it's through the council.

I spoke to the council and they actually have no idea :S they said they will check and get back to me but all they could find was that their numbers are declining and that they think the council does not support them anymore ?!

Anyone knows???

Or maybe, do you know where there is one posted in the borough? I can go and ask them :)

Thank you! :)

ETA Lollipop Person Not Lady

Thank you everyone! It turns out it is the council's responsibility. Thanks to your lolli-spotting I asked a good friend of mine to ask the Lollipop person outside Heber and they gave me the phone number of the person who manages them. He said the council employs a company to manage them but I have to talk to the Road safety manager in Southwark and they have to decide if this is necessary. It made me think that maybe there are other options, maybe we can employ that company without the council's involvement? or maybe we can get the parents to volunteer a day and manage the crossing ourselves? I am sure there are health and safety issues to think about but well... it is a start.

One other thing that came up.... The man who manages the lollipop people (sounds like something from the wizard of oz :)) said he is looking for more workers :) So if anyone here is interested let me know and I will give you his number :) you have to work an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon and they pay London wage which is ?9.75 an hour.

Thanks again everyone!

    • Hope all the ‘high streets for people’ events went well! Very short notice probably for people living in the area and on a very hot day!  James McAsh just doesn’t know what to do next with Southwark Council Tax payers money. He advocates the few streets in the area that has a bus service and then shuts the routes down! Very annoying for people who want to go about their daily business and have already had restrictions brought in by McAsh.
    • Thank goodness for Greg. I had an awful situation whereby I was notified that water was leaking from my flat into the flat below me. I was 150 miles away at the time and had a panicked journey home not knowing what I was going to face.   I called Greg (after seeing reviews on the forum) as soon as I arrived home in the evening and he arrived just after 10pm and was able to shut off the problem. He had to come back to finalise the job which turned out to be caused in a communal area whereby there was a blockage in the stack pipe.   Greg worked quickly, efficiently and informed me every step of the way as to what he was doing and why. He also cleaned up really well afterwards.  Greg's charges are very reasonable and he will definitely be my "go-to" if I have any other plumbing issues in the future.
