I remember..I premiered my one woman show ''the magic muff' at it and saw hugh cornwall in the big top. All run by the original EDT comedy team who sadly were kicked out of the edt to make way for a restaurant but are now happily running the hob in forest hill every saturday. breathes.
it ran for two years. they had a big top on goose green. withnail and I was screened in the first year and bill bailey did a riotous evening to close the second year. the following year the lib dems and tories took control of southwark and edfest was canned when they refused to continue supporting the event.
thank you for asking Alan, it was a stand up comedy show exploring whether the 'pram in the hallway' really is the enemy of art. What would have happened if Van Gogh had had children? and culminated in showing the paintings famous artists would have done when their hypothetical offspring begged them to ''draw dolly''. Then there was a little dance celebrating female creativity - the magic muff.

We used to boo Izzard of before he even started comparing his material was so bad. But he kept plugging away and thanks to us he is now very good! .

I remember telling Rhona Cameron how good she was when she did the open spot there. Harry Hill also appeared with some chap when he was starting.

Originally it was Janet Prince and Husband Steve Frost. The Lovely Leslie Claire O'neil (who I think did a bit of Corrie) and Emma - its Emma who continued at the HOB.

And my Favourite who used to stick a firework in his ... whose name escapes me even though he did a spot at my birthday party!

I remember this too - hysterically funny. And the improve thing too - whose line is it anyway - with some of the old faces from the TV show. Was a fantastic event, and sorely missed.

    • I'd be tempted to put up some sort of fence  to delineate the area and see what happens. Probably nothing.
    • Poundland have been there just over two years.
    • Has anybody here bought some land from the council to become part of their garden? There are helpful guidelines on the Southwark website here including a PDF with associated costs, however the "valuation" element has absolutely no guidelines. It could be £500 or £50,000. You will already have spent £1000 on the process before finding out what they will charge you for the land - which would certainly be frustrating if it's not affordable for you. The land in question is a tiny patch immediately attached to the front of my property, approx 4 meters wide x 1 meter long. Would like to put a fence there to separate from the pavement and allow some privacy, keep the bins more tidy. The land is of no value to anybody else and is neglected currently - the council seems to have to stopped maintaining this area between the pavement and the houses on our street.
    • I suppose wind could have blown rubbish out of bins down into the pond. But I also counted three footballs and some smaller balls. Regrettably, there is also what seems to be a large dead carp or waterfowl, hard to tell at distance. I just hope the water quality is okay. I am not clear to what extent the pond is managed.
