It's the third free ebay weekend this year and it's 9.07 on a Sunday night and I've still not got round to putting stuff on.

I need to treat my new waterproof boots before I go out on the bike in them and it rains... (always best to add stuff on)

I need to sand down and then paint the pipe running along the top of the hall, all else of which was decorated over a year ago...

The garden that looks like a jungle,

The worktops in the kitchen that need cleaning,

Defrosting the fridge/freezer,

Buying a new TV before analogue expires,

Cleaning the Bathroom,

Dusting,

Tidying my daughters bedroom that looks like a rubbish dump,

Painting & decorating,

Writing a new CV,

Answering letters,

Hoovering behind objects, rather than round them,

Tackling the ironing pile,

Throwing away all the junk, that 'may' come in handy one day,

Doing all the things above, because I've got so many better things to do.

(like spending time on EDF/facebook/reading/watching tv/walking my dogs etc)

Everything else can wait.

I'll put it off til later!!

No, Frankito to me you sound very upset perhaps of something you've been avoiding to do it

for so long and probably you have thought you would have somebody to help you

but some people were there and you were not !

Time to face it Frankito and don't get mad with the builders.

Is there anything I can do to help !

Getting around to joining Southwark Circle as a Member (I'm a Helper and go round other people's houses to help do what THEY have been putting off!). (Over fifties only!) So I can get someone else round and do my things for a lot cheaper.

Like cleaning my motorcycle....

Bathroom-bath has only 1 tap in working order so can only shower, not bathe. Been like it for years...

Kitchen-area behind sink area is rotting away, waste disposal has never worked, 2 spaces where ceramic floor tiles were laid never been filled with anything, ever.

Hole above dining table where I removed the hanging light I didn't like, relatively recent but very visible!

Still need to fill out forms to get my mortgage protection payout..

Still gotta update CV...

I think citizen has hit on the raison d'etre for putting anything off. Don't know whether it's some mutation of Sod's law or a realisation of the myth of the Hydra but it does seem that as soon as you fix one thing, or attend to one thing you have been neglecting, another bigger task takes its place.

We acknowledge this - allbeit on a subconscious level - and seek to break this cycle of misery by refusing to be drawn into the trap of doing the thing at all and yet - lest fate punish us for a downright refusal - keep alive the promise that we WILL do 'the thing' at a later date and so are able to bathe in the glow of the righteous and go to the pub with a clear conscience.

    • I normally vote Lib Dem and will continue to do so.
    • the reason Tories have lost votes is because they have lost trust primarily. the voters didn't vote for what the Tories did, but what they promised. you can't blame the voters for the outcome, just because they voted for the party. Labour are in a position of influence so we will have to see what they do.  Reform are there, as quite a presence should Labour continue to fail. It feels as if we are on a very thin line
    • I agree with that The voters authorised strong austerity in 2010 and kept voting for it for 14 years - for that reason alone, given Labour have been in power for only months I can't find my else able to equate them as bad as each other. Yet. It may happen and given Labour's poor decision making and comms to date I wouldn't be surprised if they end up that way Problem is the voters say they want one thing (lower prices/better public services/things working) but then don't reward any government that tries to deliver -  and they explicitly said they wanted higher prices with Brexit and lower public services by voting Cons in for 14 years - so they got what they wanted, they just don't like the reality Whoever is elected now has to find a way to address those years of underinvestment and diminished growth - there is no painless way out. But blaming immigration for everything (Reform speciality) is only making everything worse
    • That’s good to know, but it just wasn’t clear to me.
