BCG/jabs advice

Hi

does anyone know if you have to leave a minimum time period between the BCG and 4 month vaccinations?

Not AFAIK; Cheeky S had his 4mo injections and then 5 days later, his BCG.

They do it in the opposite arm so there's no problem with other vaccinations I think...

sorry to hijack thread - how long till blister appears? it's been ages since the shot and nothing

the only reason for postponing jabs would be if your baby was unwell, whether from standard cough/cold or reaction to jabs. Otherwise its totally fine to have them one after the other. As bluesuperted says they should do it in different arms if close together.

My daughters BCG blister came up about 2 weeks after the jab which is normal.

two weeks?? Mine had it on 24/2 and nothing!

Sometimes they don't get a blister at all.

Less blistering = less scarring. Lucky you supergolden88. My daughter had a large pus-filled blister which still hasn't healed properly - she had her jab in November. Its going to leave a whopping scar.

Yep, Moosling (4 years old) has a massive puckered scar, from a blister that came up shortly after the jab but popped weeks later very revoltingly but conveniently in the bath.

Good thread, as reminder for me to chase surgery for 3rd attempt at getting BCG for Twosling.

My daughter never did get a blister, just stayed as a small red mark and subsequently no scarring. My son had his a couple of weeks ago and so far no blister. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

My son's took at least 6 weeks, probably two-three months and isn't awful but is noticeable. A friend of minw's dad is a oral/facial surgeon and gets so angry about the BCG site - saying there is no reason for it to be where it is (could easily be underside of arm or leg) and it often ends up leaving a nasty scar. As someone who had to get mine done at 27 for my job I agree and hate my scar!

My mum got mine done on my hip when I was a baby. Well, it was supposed to be on my hip, but it was a very small and fat leg, and it ended up at the top of my thigh. Don't know how she managed it. I'm not that bothered - the career as a swimsuit model never really took off...

Had daughter's done on the Friday and the 4 month one on the Tuesday. Health visitor said it was ok!
