Quids is right. There has been a deterioration in the absurd, inconsequential, nonsensical, enlightening and irrelevant here and a preponderance of politically driven debate.

The lounge has been a dumping ground for too long. Whenever admin don't know what to do with a thread that is ill-suited to its surroundings it gets 'lounged' and we have had enough! It's about time the earnestness with which some of the socio-political guff posted in this section got its come uppance and got 'drawing roomed'. Any debate in this section should only be tolerated if it either raises a smile/laugh or contains amusing/slightly-rude imagery.

Any attempts at political point scoring or arbitrary insults (designed to promote or attack a political viewpoint) should be D.R'd. and those with the lounge's best interests at heart should pile on to the offending thread to make sure it is.

i think they are like EDF aristocracy - been going so long that although they may be pointless, dull, degraded in intelligence and usefulness and irritating, they are a source of comfort and nostalgia to veteran posters and something for occasional visitors to look at and have a desultory turn at ... actually not so much ariostocracy as the run down swings and slide of a city centre park.

And the difference/your point is?

Apologies if it was a "Aristocarcy? More like...!" but you did forget to add the *boom-tish! A-thankyou!* ;-)

    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
