I heard he had a heart attack, and according to a child from Francesca Cabrini, it was a teacher at the school. My condolences to his family (and if it was a teacher, with the staff and pupils at the school).

And again this morning a Fire command unit plus several ambulances and paramedic cars, I didn't see exactly where but looked to be the junction with Brenchley Gardens/Canonbie Road and Forest Hill road. Does anyone know more?

Incident 6th July

I have contacted the Office at St Francesca Cabrini Primary and they have informed me that the man who collapsed on Forest Hill Rd was not a member of staff at the school. The first aiders from the school were at the scene, assisting, so the child may have seen a familiar member of staff.

My greatest condolences go out to the family of the man.

Incident this morning 8th July, I haven't been able to find out any information about this yet (so hopefully this means that it was a minor incident). I know this junction is an accident hotspot and I hope it will be improved when the junction, crossing point and traffic management works are done on this road.

Renata

Thanks for confirming Renata, and apologies for the misinformation.

Whilst not both RTA's, 2 incidents in as many days does focus the mind that this stretch of road is very very busy at school times and dangerous with parents parking up on the kerbs, on the zigzags and in the bus stops etc. Yesterday I witnessed a 'lady' in a huge 4x4 casually pull up in the bus stop to collect her kids. When a driver going past admonished her behaviour (in quite a reasonable manner) he got hurled abuse.

Will those parents who drive to Cabrini please think about the further consequences of their "Quick drop off" point? I know the school does try to dissuade this dodgy parking, but it doesn't seem to stop.

There has not, to my knowledge, been a significant road accident at the top end of Forest Hill Rd for at least 7 years. A few people bump into the back of the car in front of them, probably because they are travelling too close together. The intersection with Brenchley Gardens further down the hill has many more accidents. Is this the "hot spot" you are referring to, Renata? What "junction, crossing point and traffic management works" are being planned? Will the residents be consulted at all?

Ralee, I did post here about the incident on 8th July, for some bizarre reason it was moved to the Lounge. Sadly on Friday morning an 81 year old lady died in a house fire on Honor Oak Rise. I went up to talk to fiends and neighbours on Friday afternoon, including one who tried to rescue her, but were beaten back by thick smoke. I ask that those of you who have elderly friends, relatives & neighbours check that they have smoke alarms and that these are in working order. My condolences go out to her friends and family.

Sheilarose, yes it is the Brenchley Gardens/Forest Hill Rd junction I am referring too. I think the project which stretches from the junction with Colyton Rd right up to the boundary with Lewisham just past Cabrini School is in the very early stages. There was some preliminary consultation with members of the public at a Community Council meeting a few months ago. I will contact the Southwark Traffic Team and post back. I don't think much is happening yet, just the preliminary stage of traffic flows, speeds etc.

    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
    • Can’t imagine what it must be like you have your doorbell rung harshly.
