I think the main point MNH was trying to make is that Coulson, when he was in public office, was required to report any received income from other sources under the Special Adviser's code of conduct to avoid any conflict of interest issues. This omission raises questions about Coulson's integrity and activities.

Andy Coulson's payout: a problem for the Tories?

Big mistake, in my opinion, of including the charge of illegally accessing the voicemail of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler against Rebecca Brooks and Andy Coulson.

There's enough evidence to convict them of wrong doing without this charge, that, given it's emotive nature and the Guardian's incorrect facts, may see them get off.

It would be ironic if the Guardian's misrepresentation regarding deleting of emails allowed two Murdoch kingpins to walk away Scot free.

interesting developments no?

It also appears that the global press is interested but most other British papers strangely muted

(also posted in a thread I thought was active but now headlined "closed")

The DV level of security clearance checks bank accounts and requires changes reported I think.

So the security officer would have asked for an explanation.

    • He's an ambitious guy - presume the aim is to get elected as a Green MP. But a lot can happen in 3 years.      Personally I think planning for funding gaps when you have no money is the sensible thing to do.
    • Ah, so it’s not the Lib Dems’ fault for enabling the vicious austerity policies of Cameron and Osborne by getting into bed with the tories? The state we are in is entirely traceable to the coalition years and the Lib Dems should be damned for all time for what you did in 2010-15.
    • Not been cynical, I'd say he can't stand for a party which has moved so far to the right it has come to represent things he does not believe in. Quite apart from what happened to him personally, which was disgraceful.
