I guess so, but it also reinforces a 'them & us' mentality. Maybe it would be good to offer some mixed sessions, with limited numbers if need be.

I do see your point, and was not posting because I minded the play area being closed to the general public today, I just think in general it is good for children to mix (& surely people would stare less in time if it became more normal to all be playing together?).

Just a thought, and I admit to having very little experience with handicapped children so this is posted with intent to understand tye reasoning more than anything.

Hmm not really, what the kids and parents gain from having the playground to themselves overides anything else. Some autistic children need a lot of physical space around them and may have behavioural problems. Having a non judgemental, safe, enclosed, stimulating place to go is like gold dust. Many families with disabled children rarely get the opportunity to get out for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately patience tolerance and understanding by neuro typical children and parents doesnt always happen. . and I do agree it would be good to offer some additional supervised mixed sessions with limited numbers. Southwark Council take note :)

Seconding this really. Long may this continue!!!

Take the word literal which is now used to mean the very opposite of how the word used to be used, irritating for some of us but demonstrates the English language is vibrant and alive and also very subjective. • With the right type of feeder arrangement the access by parakeets, squirrels and rats can be eliminated completely. Likewise, the spread of disease can be minimised. The best method is to hang individual feeders inside a wire  cage that has a 2"x2" mesh on all sides that is mounted above ground. Being above ground it stops slugs and rats getting in. And with mesh on the bottom, the risk of transmitting disease from any droppings is eliminated. Small birds feel safe from predators in three These cages are available online for about £33
