In a curious twist, it will be Stretch who shopped GC. Who is, in fact, the unbeknown half-brother to GC. The only person who knows this is Mama. But turns out he isn't her child, he is Cecil's love child following an affair with his childhood sweetheart, Mildred. The office gossip knows nothing...yet.

It may be a family matter, but you need to be professional about it and bring it up in a diplomatic manner before you leave. how diplomatic is up to you, but to highlight on a possible "error" you have found will give the MD the choice to investigate and make his own conclusions - you do not have to have an agenda to do this, you are merely doing your job.The last thing you want is some kind of retrospective blame pushed onto you should this emerge later. You are out of the place, so it doesnt matter, you will still have your self respect.

I have been in this situation twice now and it was literally ? millions - both times I have been massively shit on, so you really shouldnt take my moral stance on anything.

good luck

Mama catches GC banging Sharon in the 'surplus-stock room' and her reverse-Oedipal complex compels her to blackmail him into writing a confession which she will keep about her person to force his compliance for the forseeable future.

The unnecessairly tall Stretch, whilst working in an adjoining cubicle in this alarmingly 80s style open-plan office, peers over the top of the cubicle partition and witnesses the confesion in mid-composition. Following GC he sees the hand-over to Mama and secretly records events.

Stretch reports the whole sorry affair to Cecil and shoows him the incriminating photos and video. He threatens to report the whole thing to the press and to Cecil's latest and most valuable clients (an action which would detroy the firm's reputation, customer base and cripple their share value) unless he is given a big pay-off and can finally leave the job he hs grown to despise.

Cecil agrees and also has no option but to fire GC and Mama.

With his company now on the brink of disaster and new clients growing increasingly dismayed, Cecil calls on a safe pair of hands to guide the company through troubled waters.

The only man who can save the day...

Sharon files her nails but keeps her job (she knows where the bodies are buried), she retrieves the employee record photograph of Alan and smiles at it dreamily

*Enter Alan..."

Not really katie. In fact you could say that Sharon close to despises Stretch. He gets paid the most and only works 4 days a week as he has other interests. He is always late arriving and often leaves early. Sharon has anger issues which often come to the fore for very little reason. Stretch knows her well enough not to encourage an explosion if he can help it so if if Sharon takes liberties herself (which she is obviously blind to), he leaves her well alone.

She also hates seeing Stretch picking at his warts, one in particular.

I never finished this and probably never will as it will probably never end. Once the Golden Child went on holiday I was to discover that his fiddling amounted to a lot more than some petty cash. It ran into thousands. I presented the evidence just before he was due to return and that was the end of him. From some reason Cecil didn't take any legal action against him but perhaps he could afford to lose ?20k and didn't want the police involved.

Since then Bob who was in a completly different role was dismissed for long term fiddling only to be replaced by the part Russian, Boris. He is in charge of a lot of temporary low paid factory workers mostly from Eastern Europe and was found to be charging them a 'fee' so that he would continue to give them work. This was even secretly taped by some workers and presented to Cecil with the new girl Andrea who speaks Russian acting as translator. In spite of the evidence Boris is still there. By the way Sharon thinks Andrea used to be an Andrew though I have to admit she looks good to me.

Stretch meanwhile continues to unfortunately have the wrong computers etc delivered which mysteriously get collected/returned by someone we never see. He's in charge of the purchase ledger and pays the bills. He very kindly gave GC a great reference for his new job.

I have a 'permanent' job there since GC lost his which is good in a way. However, I think I must get something else to protect what remains of my sanity.

Someone I know was involved in years of accepting backhanders from companies eager to be allocated public sector work (he worked in the public sector). The fraud went to the top. When it came to light everyone likely to be involved in allocating contracts was suspended. Several of those involved had nervous breakdowns and did not properly recover even though they were reinstated. As it was public sector it was tax-payer's money and I for one could not look him in the eye when I found out because he made no secret of where his extra holiday money, improvements to his house etc. had come from.

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
    • @Sephiroth you made some interesting points on the economy, on the Lammy thread. Thought it worth broadening the discussion. Reeves (irrespective of her financial competence) clearly was too downbeat on things when Labour came into power. But could there have been more honesty on the liklihood of taxes going up (which they have done, and will do in any case due to the freezing of personal allowances).  It may have been a silly commitment not to do this, but were you damned if you do and damned if you don't?
