GP's at Forest Hill Rd surgery

Can anyone recommend one that is sympathetic towards mental health issues ?

I know in theory that they all should be but just wondered if any individuals had been found to be more sympathetic than others .

Sorry I can't rem her name, but was wrongly told by a gp at fh road surgery that there are no drugs available for breastfeeding mothers w pnd! Was also hassled by other gps there, and given wrong advice/info re breastfeeding from the hvs. I have since changed surgeries.

Sorry, that's not encouraging, it's just to say that if you don't think you're getting the right treatment, don't give up! Should you need it, I know an excellent private psychiatrist.

I was told that doc scorer (not sure of the spelling) is very good in that area by a couple of friends

Dr Scorer is excellent. I've also had good experiences with Dr Graham. Dr Scorer by the way also is very good about breastfeeding and baby health issues. Health visitor has been dreadful but I don't want to move because the midwives are amazing and the doctors I like are good. I'm just avoiding the HV.

I didn't find Dr Graham helpful. It might have been a clash of personalities. It's important that you're able to communicate well with your GP and vice versa. We definitely weren't 'on the same page'. But if you're happy with the service you receive that's the main thing that matters.

I can imagine she's a love her or hate her type! She sorted out a long running health issue I had that the other doctors I'd seen had been pretty hopeless with, so we got off to a good start.

I also really like Dr Scorer, very matter of fact and to the point but efficient and effective. I've had mainly good experiences at the surgery (though not used the Drs much), the midwives are fab (planning to avoid HVs for no.2 though but that's another thread!).

Dr. Cliffe at the Gardens Surgery is well up on Mental Health Issues and has been very helpful with a family member who is bipolar

Dr Scorer and Dr Greaves are both very easy to approach with any issue. But in my opinion, Dr Graham is not someone I would want to talk to if I needed a sympathetic ear!

Another vote for Dr Scorer. Also good there are Dr Masaba and Dr Main. I don't know about mental health issues but they are helpful/good.

All 3 are female in case that makes a difference.
