mrs f
Hello everyone, Baby F has learnt to roll from his back onto his front which of course is clearly lovely. However, last night I heard him flapping about, just talking really (not crying) in his cot for ages, not going back to sleep, so I went to check on him... I found him at the top of the cot on his front.... he has never slept on his front and clearly didn't want to be there but was stuck! so I turned him over, moved him down and tucked him back in. He sleeps in a sleeping bag then we attempt to pin him down with a blanket. He also sleeps between those side positioner roll things that are supposed to stop him rolling over if he was on his side (he sleeps on his back so they are just for comfort really)When I got him up at 7 he was making noises already (not unusual for him to wake just before 7) and he was on his front again, this time it looks like he had rolled over the side positioner as he was at the bottom of the cot pressed against the side and the side positioner in the middle...!So, can I stop him rolling at night? I picture him rolling over every time he wakes a little then getting stuck and I'll have to get up and turn him over again.... which I really don't want to do! will this 'phase' pass & if so how quickly? and is there anything I can do to teach him how to roll the other way?thanks! Pickle
We went through this with our daughter, the phase passed pretty quickly, and in the end she actually started sleeping on her tummy (a revelation, as she slept much better when she decided that was her comfy position!). crystal7
I remember our daughter doing this too, not sure there's anything you can do to stop it. She learnt to roll back quite quickly (can't remember how long exactly) and became a front or side sleeper too around this time. Other physical milestones that interrupted sleep were learning to sit from lying down, pulling self up and crawling- just to warn you! Hesmall1
Our 5 month old is now a tummy sleeper. My husband spent two sleepless nights flipping her back over every time we heard her moving about, but it was useless, she loves sleeping on her tummy and just quickly rolled back onto it while still asleep. Other Mums from my NCT group are experiencing the same thing. bumpy
My now 19 month old was a tummy sleeper pretty much from birth otherwise no one was going to get any sleep - did we worry, hell yeah but worked out okay for us in the long run. mrs f
Thanks everyone, I wouldn't mind if he was happy on his tummy but he doesn't seem to be at all, we have gone from him sleeping through to him waking a couple of times a night... Hopefully he will find a comfortable position Soon enough be it on his front or back... MrsLL2b
We had the same,it passed really quickly and she now sleeps on her side or tummy and sleeps much better. If I recall correctly there were only a few nights where it caused her to wake and be confused etc Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18874-rolling-at-night-what-to-do/#findComment-465739 Share on other sites
