Hello everyone, Baby F has learnt to roll from his back onto his front which of course is clearly lovely. However, last night I heard him flapping about, just talking really (not crying) in his cot for ages, not going back to sleep, so I went to check on him... I found him at the top of the cot on his front.... he has never slept on his front and clearly didn't want to be there but was stuck! so I turned him over, moved him down and tucked him back in. He sleeps in a sleeping bag then we attempt to pin him down with a blanket. He also sleeps between those side positioner roll things that are supposed to stop him rolling over if he was on his side (he sleeps on his back so they are just for comfort really)

When I got him up at 7 he was making noises already (not unusual for him to wake just before 7) and he was on his front again, this time it looks like he had rolled over the side positioner as he was at the bottom of the cot pressed against the side and the side positioner in the middle...!

So, can I stop him rolling at night? I picture him rolling over every time he wakes a little then getting stuck and I'll have to get up and turn him over again.... which I really don't want to do! will this 'phase' pass & if so how quickly? and is there anything I can do to teach him how to roll the other way?

thanks!

I remember our daughter doing this too, not sure there's anything you can do to stop it. She learnt to roll back quite quickly (can't remember how long exactly) and became a front or side sleeper too around this time. Other physical milestones that interrupted sleep were learning to sit from lying down, pulling self up and crawling- just to warn you!
Our 5 month old is now a tummy sleeper. My husband spent two sleepless nights flipping her back over every time we heard her moving about, but it was useless, she loves sleeping on her tummy and just quickly rolled back onto it while still asleep. Other Mums from my NCT group are experiencing the same thing.
Thanks everyone, I wouldn't mind if he was happy on his tummy but he doesn't seem to be at all, we have gone from him sleeping through to him waking a couple of times a night... Hopefully he will find a comfortable position Soon enough be it on his front or back...

    • Whether the march still goes ahead will depend on what happens in the next couple of days, I imagine. Things have looked hopeful before, but let's hope this time is different. Have you actually read the posts above? Do you understand the difference between antisemitism and being against the Israeli government killing thousands of civilian adults and children? Do you understand why people are demonstrating  against our own government's involvement in killing thousands of civilian adults and children by supplying arms to Israel? It seems not.
    • Now there is a peace agreement, the only reason this would still go ahead is to demonstrate antisemitism.
    • Sadly everyone's in East Dulwich is. The move has been nothing but a complete disaster for us. And now  I gather that the office isn't even open most of the time, if you could get to it. It must be so disheartening to be a postie there knowing your bosses are forcing you to give a poor service by prioritising more lucrative parcel delivery. That was so much a privatisation too far.
    • I am currently dealing with numerous cases of clay shrinkage subsidence in Dulwich, and have had some success in getting TPOs lifted. I also agree with the comments about being cautious about getting insurers involved and I’m in the Insurance Post Magazine this week discussing this subject. I have written a blog on my website about it too. It’s a huge problem which is currently escalating enormously. UK Subsidence (clay shrinkage and trees) Fb group has experts on it (incl myself) giving free advice and is a useful resource. My Insurer has withdrawn subsidence cover.pdf
