Brendan
I wanted to go for a reproduction battleaxe above the fireplace but the missus exercised a veto. *Bob*
Can you still get 'Athena' posters? The one with that tennis player scratching her arse is a classic. Alan Dale
Agreed about the flat screen faux pas.I reckon you should make every effort to keep your lounge telly in some sort of cupboard and never admit to watching it.Apparently anything over 32" means you are a towny. Heard that? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1892-kitchen-design-splashback-tiles/page/3/#findComment-55531 Share on other sites
*Bob*
Those funny cabinets that hide the shame of your television crack me up. Especially if there are fake 'books' on shelves around it with VHS cassettes inside. When two friends of mine got married - they were so much in love that "they didn't have a television". Anyway, that was a few years ago.. they've got a 40 incher now. Alan Dale
I reckon you can go over 32" but only if you've got a room dedicated to film. Ideally in a loft or basement and with a projector, recliners and some expensive memorabilia. As for hiding it in a cupboard I think that if you can do it discreetly then that should be encouraged. Not housing it is like leaving your hoover out. Ours is currently unhoused but that will be addressed in the fullness of time. *Bob*
Can I suggest one of these? They cunningly combine the very worst in fireplace design with the laugh-out-loud awfulness of a pop-up TV.http://www.picturehousecabinets.com/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1892-kitchen-design-splashback-tiles/page/3/#findComment-55547 Share on other sites
Alan Dale
What do you think of Ercol furniture? My girlfriend is all over it on eBay at the moment but I'm not going to drive to Wales to pick up a coffee table.. *Bob*
Re Ercol.. I'm not a fan of the style myself (I find it a bit too 'country kitchen' but the old stuff is appreciating in value as there are people who are fans. I've seen Ercol high-backed chairs on sale in London for a few hundred quid a pop. As with most things.. if you like it.. buy it and enjoy it.
