I think the "Upper" refers to the area on the same side of LL as the Library. Don't get confused with Lower Upper East Side which slopes of towards Forest Hill."

hummm,

I live a bit further up from the Library, do I live in Southern Upper East Side or in the Lower Upper East Side ?

I'm having a residency crisis right now.

when I cycle home my tongue usually shows a bit of herself out of my mouth, so I guess I don't live at the bottom but at the top.

That means I can't be living at the "Lower Upper East Side" nor at the "Deep Southern Upper East Side", so I reckon I live on the "Southern Upper East Side" and those who live near the plough live in the "Lower Upper East Side"

right ?

I just live on Lordship Lane which is in DULWICH, no upper, no lower, no east or south, Just Dulwich....my mum is right, if it is not the north and south disliking each other, it would be something else, like the upper and lower side!:))

Dulwich is Dulwich is Dulwich, embrace it!

    • Pity you didn't quote what you are referring to, Mal. I didn't see the previous post, and my mind is boggling 😮
    • The Cherry Tree was absolutely excellent for a while when a youngish couple ran it and brought in a really good chef. It was them who renamed it The Cherry Tree. They were really turning it around. The chef did fantastic Scotch eggs, and one of the best roasts I've ever had. If memory serves the then owner,  for some reason known only to himself, took a dislike to them and what they were doing and sacked them all. And yes we weren't expecting a top class  meal last Christmas, and we left it too late to book anywhere else, but we weren't expecting it for a hundred pounds EACH to be quite as terrible as it was. Stupid us. Not sure why you are confused by my post, Jazzer? Did I misremember?
    • Hear hear. Very well said. Thank you and all the best for the year ahead
    • Tried months ago, to get folk together to do something, to say thank you. Been a member of the forum for years and if you had not stepped up, would not be an active  forum. Well administered as well. So from me to you, thanks for keeping it going..  Happy Christmas and blessings and good fortune in 2026 which I am told is The Year of The Horse….
