I didn't say it wasn't Sean. I was simply outlining my reasons why I feel he should be under pressure considering Arsenal have not won a trophy for 5 years. His job should be under pressure now. It may make him act a bit more decisively in correcting the obvious flaws which are preventing his team from winning honours. My own view on him is that he won't be told because of his arrogance.

Hmmmm

i DO know what you are getting at jimmy. But I think he is the opposite of arrogant. He would dearly love to buy a couple of big names. But they aren't easy to procure even with all heaps o cash. But he is taking a long term financial view if arsenal which will stand us in good stead. Unlike, say, politicians, bankers or other football managers he isn't willing to spend silly money for potential short term success. He is, I think, to be applauded for this. Much as our obvious deficiencies currently hurt to witness

I agree, but he can't swim against the tide all the time. He must spend some money. He made a very astute signing with Vermaelen. He splashed a bit of cash on Arshavin. They have both been succesful. I'm being a bit provocative saying sack him, as I do rate him as a coach and anyone who promotes good football is to be applauded. Perhaps Arsenal simply don't have any money?
Good player. But he's not a target man or lone striker. He plays off a striker, like a classic number 10. Personally I think Wenger could have done a lot worse then to buy Pavyluchenko from Spurs. Him and Arshavin were superb together in the european championships.

Just stepped off the naughty step, after my two weeks of exile. Is that cheering I can hear from Sandboy, the dollar sign or whatever, Declan, and the usual holier than thou crew.

Any way, crap result against CSKA Fulham, who will win the league, Man Ure hugely flattering scoreline but when the opposition help you as much as Pompey did I guess it's to be expected, Spuds drawing at home and Liverpool back to winning ways means that they may overtake Spuds on Wednesday night if they win against the Arsenal. If circs were different I'd be happy to give the scousers the three points to ensue Del Boy Churchill Redknapp ends the season out of the top four.

The bloke who had a rant at me after I was sent for an early shower two weeks ago, namely $$$$ or ???? or whatever his ID is, made me smile. Obviously the man is a footballing oracle whose opinions and wisdom should be interpreted as being holy scripture and others like myself should bow in deference to this footballing sage. After all he supports the team that won the world cup for England in 1966 don't you know. Oh and finally, thanks to Keef for being a decent bloke and having the courage to tell most of you what he thought of you. Well played.

That will be two of us then eh, oh holy one. You do make me smile. I see your mob lost again. Shame for a team that won the world cup in 1966. Did you know that? Oh yeah you've told us countless times, that, and how Brooking scored a stooping header against us back in the day. Yeah same old "stuff".

Still - as your whole football argument seems to be look what we won, you can't really have a go at Man U or Chelsea or Liverpool at the mo can you? Anyway, been terrible on here without you I suspect we'll soon return to the high standard of debate that you bring to this thread, infact it's happening already.

Atila-poos

Oh naughty boy, glad you're back ( had you gone really , or just lurking in the shadows planning your re-launch )

There was a vacuum but now it's filled again *ears pop*

Oh & what's happened to our glorious Gunners, seems we have run out of steam

Puffffff....ttt

W**F

I'm glad you missed me and my argument has never been about lokm at what we've won, keep taking you're medication and have a lie down, try reading my posts properly. Or do you just see the red mist (very appropriate) as soon as you see my posts? You put a post on here two weeks ago in which you took the opportunity to bravely tear in to me when you knew I couldn't defend myself, so as far as I'm concerned you've made yourself fair game. So I'm glad you enjoy or little discussions. Long may they reign. As for high standard of debate< i'll leave that to you, as you are clearly a footballing sage and the only opinion on here that carries any weightor credibility. It must be great to be as good as you are eh?

My only is agenda ia against you for being cowardly enough to put it on here when I couldn't get back at you. So you took it off AFTER the ban, how very big of you, but the damage was done. Sorry that doesn't suit your agenda. Don't you like the taste of your own medicine, finding it hard to swallow?

Well, I didn't know you were banned until it had be been announced so I couldn't take it down before without some clairvoyance....

Here's what I wrote after I removed the post. So you can seethe away with false persecution if you want. As I said, personally I've found it far more pleasant on here for the last 2 weeks, my opinion only but for me that's the truth, I left school 30 years ago....

FFS - this is the football thread.

Pistols at dawn or shaking hankies at each other needs it's own thread.

Now, Mockney, what can I do to make you feel better about the New Den? Come with me on the home side and it won't seem quite so nasty. Still can't get away from the breezeblock monstrosity, but it's not so bad.

    • Copleston centre hire for adult parties
    • Most churches rent out halls for children's' parties but rarely adult parties, Christ Church only does afternoon parties,   The East Dulwich Community centre hires out halls to 9 pm only and all music needs to be on a sound restrictor as is in a residential area. St Johns with St Clements have a small hall but not sure if they allow adult parties. Nunhead Green has a newish community centre with a couple of different size halls. Most places seem to charge around £40 ph  with a deposit of £100/200 (returned if no damage or excess cleaning needed.
    • Hello, Recently there have been various comments made on the forum which have resulted in heated discussions being had. I for one, hold up my hand and wanted to personally thank whoever is keeping the forum going.. remember when it was likely to close. We are all adults and should known when it is right to continue or just ignore or if really feel it necessary comment via pm. I have had a long relationship with the forum and have bought, sold, offered advice and in deed made friends on the forum over the years. It is a public forum after all and everyone is entitled to express their opinion and is also free. I am not as tech minded as most but with the season of good will approaching and-knowing in this economic climate how many people are  struggling, I  thought it would be a lovely idea, to perhaps set up a just giving page to raise funds for a local charity who might appreciate a contribution towards their Christmas festivities… On a practical side, might just be to complicated to administer as I am sure all have charities that we support so my other thought was not me, as I am useless but to set up a just giving page and whatever monies are raised, perhaps contribute to the festivities that use to be run by local shops or whatever.. Maybe even use a local church hall and just make it special for perhaps folk that find it difficult to access events or no access for say wheel chair users.. guess really, one is looking for guidance from the church and of course volunteers. Shoot me down if you must or feel the need but this is my view and no, sadly I won’t be around in the months before Christmas but can help remotely.
