Cheers for that- we can now stand proud and say to ManUre, Chelski, Liverpool and Arsenal- see we can copy you and buy silverware too !

Manchester United's dressing room minutes before kick off in the derby;

"Right I want 110% effort from the word go against this blue shit. Remember the bastards did us on the anniversary of Munich. If you don't win, those cockney fuckers at Chelsea will have 6 points on us. Now I don't care if you kick, punch or head-butt your way to victory, you must win this. Good luck."

Then Sir Alex walks in and says, "Thanks ref, I'll take it from here."

Class? Giggs, Ferdinand, Shrek-give your head a wobble (That's a Mancunian saying btw)

Ushited bought trophies for years- history yes but only in the last 20 years-swear word off if you think Ushited have more of a core Mancunian support.

Football wasn't invented in 1993-check your history.

Liverpool were a much greater team back then.

Was there when we beat GILLINGHAM in 1999 in play off final, would you have been ?

CTID

This crap about the money is just that, crap- how much have the teams that have won the premiership paid out to win it?

Blackburn Rovers bought the title- so you know what swear word off.

I agree that she comes across as milking it for cash. Do you think that excuses it though?

Blackburn and Chelsea have bought success, not sure I'd say that of Man U (much as it pains me). Equally, in response to Strafer's post, I'm not sure Chelsea's money would have had such an instant impact without "the special one" at the helm.

Good point re Mourinhio as well. There just are very few managers capable of that kind of success - so you can have 10 teams with sugar-daddies throwing money around but you won't find 10 managers able to do enough with the money. Plus there can only be one winner each season

Blackburn buying the title - it was a while ago now (scary thought) but even then the whle thing went close to the wire if I recall. It didn't feel like Blacburn were some invincible super-team bought with cash

Red Devil would like it to be known that the above statement was made at a time when common knowledge thought that BR was safely locked up in a secure unit...

Did anybody else find themselves rooting for Wales last night?

I think my relationship with the England football team may be irretrievably broken down.

Too many over-hyped underperforming years under Sven and Fabio with superego premiership tosspots.

I think I preferred us when were enigmatically rubbish tbh, or am i being nostalgic for a "better time" that never really existed? Although I'm pretty sure the only thing Brooking and co will have ever roasted was a chicken on sunday.

I think the rejog of the team (eg bringing back Lampard) gave the team the air of what we have seen for last 10 years.

I thought the lineup against Bulgaria was more interesting and a sign of the future - and as a bunch of individuals they seem less in love with themselves than teh Lampard/Terry/Gerrard and co era

So no, I wouldn't write off England just yet. But I was rooting for Wales (14-1 innit)

I think it's time we wake up to the fact that England are a mediocre team and I don't really think there is any manager in the world that can fix that. The problem is deep rooted, lies in the style of football we play and the style of coaching we use. And it's worth making the point that many of the international stars who play in the premiership also underperformed at the last world cup. The kick and rush of the premiership is mo match for the possession football of Spain. And until the FA and the premiership wake up to that nothing will change.....They don't really care anyway whilst the premiership keeps brining in the millions it does.

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
    • Depends on what the Barista says doesnt it? There was no physical confrontation with the driver, OP thinks she is being targetted when she isnt. These guys work min wage under strict schedules so give them a break unless they damage your stuff
    • CPR Dave, attendance records are available on Southwark's website. Maggie Browning has attended 100% of meetings. Jon Hartley has attended 65%.
