There was undoubtedly a police cover up, but that doesn't make the police guilty of deliberately trying to kill Liverpool fans. It makes them cowards and fools. No news there.

The obvious answer to most of the questions Annasfield has posed is 'general incompetence' - that fact that many Liverpool fans will not accept this answer means that they want a different one.

I suspect that they will not rest until the 'different' one is a declaration that Liverpool fans were deliberately targeted and murdered.

This question is typical of that "Anne Williams wants to know why Liverpool were given the smaller end of the ground when our support was almost double what Forest's was that day."

The subtext to the question is the suggestion that there was an advanced plan, a conspiracy months in creation, to put Liverpool fans in the smaller end in order to kill them.

Anne Williams' quest to change the verdict on Kevin from accidental death to unlawful killing is an example of this.

No it was poor planning and gross negligence. No one thinks it was deliberate, but people put their trust in those that were meant to be there for their safety that day. Liverpool FC wrote to the FA to express their concerns about the Leppings Lane end and the over crowding that had occurred at previous matches, prior to the game on the 15 April 1989. Had the authorities put their hands up and admitted they'd got it wrong instead of starting a smear campaign then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

If I fuck up in my job I lose it and questions are asked as to why that fuck up happened. I don't get early retirement and a huge police pension.

This is Anne Williams' own words:

"Kevin did not die from traumatic asphyxia or in an accident. I will not pick up his death certificate until we get the cause of death put right and the accidental death verdict struck down."

Make no mistake - this is not a perition for an inquest to find out the answers to Annasfield's questions, this is another attempt to try and 'prove' that the police set out to murder her son and other Liverpool supporters and then covered it up.

I think we can still get behind the Justice for the 96 Campaign

Absolutely! The fact that 40,000 + people signed that petition in the last 24 hours to get it over the required 100,000 in time shows both the power of social media and the steadfast support of so many, so many years on.

Got my tickets for Sundays clash between the Arsenal and the rags. I have no idea of how this game will go and won't have a stab at predicting the outcome, especially as my midweek prediction of Wolves to beat Brum didn't come off but my prediction for Barca to beat Real and Brighton to overcome Wrexham did. Shame they were in an accumulator!!!(6)
I loved those Jah - I thought YouTube had got leant on to stop em? The West Ham one had "Would anyone who wasn't alive when West Ham last won a trophy leave the room"...on the bit where nearly everyone leaves the room!! Might have to search for some others if there back!

Yeah, they were rubbish yesterday. Shocking performance from Liverpool. Chelsea weren't much cop either so take a bow Andy Carroll and Fernando Torres, at a combined cost of ?82 million, 2,000 minutes of football between them and not a single goal. Money well spent? Certainly not.

Really looking forward to today's two Premiership games. Hopefully a draw between Woolwich Wanderers and Man Utd and a win for Tottenham at The Etihad. COYS!

Torresd is a quality player on a bad run of form. I think he'll get it right, but not sure Chelsea is the team for him.

Carroll is looking increasingly like an ?8m (maybe) striker with the added pressure of a silly money transfer fee hanging over his head.

Not sure what to say about Liverpool really, They were shocking yesterday. They've not been playing too badly recently though, except in front of goal. Can't see them spending much, if anything, this window though.

Torres hasn't been the same player for two or three years now. It's a very long bad run of form. I think he'll come good eventually but Chelsea need to rebuild around him so it could still take a while before he hits his stride. As for Carroll, he may have scored 19 goals last season but that was in the Championship. I don't think his style suits Liverpool and they paid way over the top for him. I can't see them getting a couple of wingers and banging in crosses for the big, rough, greasy haired, pony-tailed ponce up front. Can you?

    • Labour have changed a number of things overnight.   1. VAT on school fees - this has resulted in 25,000 moving until state education. 2. Increasing NICs adding billions to the cost of going to work. 3. Introducing the Employment Rights Bill causing employers to stop hiring. This and item 2 have added 100,000 people to the unemployment scrapheap. These are also causing businesses to relocate further harming the economy. 4. Scrapping all the small boats deterrents meaning 60,000 illegal migrants have arrived in small boats since they were elected. 5. Dishing out huge public sector payroses with no conditions so we have a massively increased payroll and doctors etc arestill going out on strike. 6.changed IHT and non domicile tax rules causing 16,500 millionaires to leave the UK and stop paying any tax here at all forever. 7. Alongside 6, leaving the budget up until an historically late period after the last budget has caused a house price crash, killing the market and decimating government stamp duty receipts. 8. Their profligate borrowing (£100bn extra in just one year) to fund all their lavish promises means the government can now only borrow at the highest ever yields on records. They are more beholden to the bond markets than Liz Truss was. 9. The rate of inflation has doubled under this government. It was a healthy 2% when they came in. For most of the last year, as a result of all of the above it is now nearly 4%.   These are all decisions the Labour government took that have immediate cause and effect.  Its no good harking back to 15 years ago. The current administration was gifted the fastest growing economy in the G7 and within 15 months they have destroyed it.    And things are only going to get worse this winter.

    • A lot to agree with here - don’t get me started on Irish people complaining about immigration! - but that final paragraph is once again a cop out  there’s a lot of extreme right wing money stirring up the division that people are feeling - but there is zero excuse for handing power to these people. We live in a democracy and if we have enough people willing to give it up then judging those people foolish enough to do so is not only something that will happen, it is something that the rest of us should be morally compelled to do  if someone wouldn’t “normally” vote for a racist party yet somehow will do so because they hear someone like me saying that would be bad, then you better believe I’m judging them
