I read an article over the weekend that said Spurs hadn't beaten Utd in 21 PL games, 22 if you count todays game, so I make that 11 seasons ago, the scoreline was 3-1.

I remember very clearly Spurs' last win at OT as I went with a Spurs' supporting friend who was visiting Mcr.

We were standing in the corner of the Stretford End, yes it was that long ago, and despite telling him to keep schtum if Spurs scored, he let out a squeal of delight when Gary Lineker scored his only ever goal from outside the box...I like to think that lots of nervous throat clearing from yours truly prevented him from having his testicles 'surgically removed' and leaving OT with a permanent squeal.

Every team has a blip, I'm sure Spurs will come good and claim 3rd place, 4th place wouldn't be a disaster, just means a couple of extra preliminary CL games...

My experience is nowhere near as as in depth as yours seems to be professor.

And the fact that the purple nosed one is infamous for his mind games, and that this might yet another example of same didn't occur to you no?

For an hour you WERE the better team, but you did an Arsenal, played the better football and got beaten. Thanks for the compliment re our boys. For all of the EDFers that have taken to exception to my my dig at Bale and Suarez, can you honestly tell me you've not had similar digs at players that performed in the same way against your sides. Hypocritical, you lot? Never.

I hate to say it, especially as a supporter of a lower profile club myself, but the main reason one doesn't think 'diver' for Osman, or 'divers' for everton is because people don't really think about Osman or Everton.

Everton doesn't get scrutinised in the same way as Chelsea, Man U et al so it isn't talking point enough to get those dubious sobriquets.

We get things like plucky because we're underdogs. You may not like it but when most people hear 'everton' they think 'liverpool's second team'.

Sorry :-/

Absolutely spot on. I couldn't make that point because it would have been taken as a dig, but it's basically true.

Yeah, get a grip pablo, don't you know only Parkdrive is allowed to cite ancient evidence...

I whole-heartedly agree with you El Pibe regarding scrutiny. With the increased scrutiny for the higher profile cubs comes a counter-balance, they get more favourable decisions from referees. Thus, as fan of a lower profile club, I will lose no sleep over pointing the finger at serial cheats, Suarez for example.

I'm sure your sentence is equally valid Parkdrive (as a sentence) without the 'no' at the end. It's content is another thing though.SAF spoke about this effect years ago when he witnessed it firsthand.

Dunno, but don't think it would necessarily be a bad thing. England can't lose, because they have no chance of winning really, so a caretaker coach can go with low expectation and see what happens.

By the way, why does the BBC website continue to give a platform for Terry Butcher to spout his out dated drivel?

Pearcey is probably the only one with experience in getting an England team to the final. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jun/29/england-under-21s

Eldest daughter got student loan and after 20 years managed to pay it off, Youngest daughter still paying hers 18 years later. Granddaughter - still paying after 6 years. Grandson decided against FE and secured an apprentenship. I am glad that I am an old codger and not young anymore !

    • It is not only Southwark - our grandson, partner and 7 year old had a one bed council flat for years in Harlow Essex and all the properties offered were in poor condition. They eventually took a property as if they refused another one they would drop to the bottom of the Housing List. It was damp and in need of a level of renovation. Having lived in these conditions for a while they were offered better council accommodation recently, but further away from child's school. They had to pay 2 lots of rent for a few weeks as council had to undertake work in the new premises before they could move in,
    • Just had an interior decorating job done by Andy. The final outcome looks lovely and he did some remedial work at the same time to fill in gaps in the ceiling (due to previous electrical work) and to remediate any similar areas to ensure a polished overall look. Would highly recommend him for any similar job, he quoted a very reasonable price for the job as well. Thanks Andy!
