Terry's 'retirement' from international football won't save him from an FA ban...

"I feel the FA, in pursuing charges against me where I have already been cleared in a court of law, have made my position with the national team untenable."

...bleats wriggling worm in predictably clumsy PR move shocker.

Very happy with Utd's win, but a poor performance overall.

Gervinho aside, Arsenal looked very good.

Re.John Terry, good riddance to rubbish.

Now back to more serious matters...

From BBC

"Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant questions the Football Association's decision to charge John Terry with using racist language.

Grant tells BBC Radio 5 live: "Nobody thinks that John Terry is a racist so the FA need to leave it. He's a good man.

"He respects everybody, he's good with people and I was very surprised that people thought bad things about him. If [the FA] think JT is racist they need to do something but I think nobody thinks he is a guy like this."

Rio Ferdinand's not getting any younger and can barely string half a dozen games together before he's out injured again. The little niggles are getting harder to shake off as he gets older. Certainly, if he can retain his fitness and play well regularly then he's worth having a look at just for his vast experience alone, he's still better than most when fully fit but there is plenty of young talent out there at centre back and I think England will cope well without having to rely on John Terry who, and let's be fair has served England well over the years and put in some great performances but with younger players like Phil Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Michael Dawson and Steven Caulker ready to make the step up the only problem I see with some of those players is whether they are playing regularly enough for their clubs.

I'm guessing the FA have a good reason as to why they've given a different penalty.

I'm intrigued to know what it is though! Apparently Suarez was heavily penealised because he racially abused Evra persistently throughout the game, so it could be the Terry's infringement was considered to be a one off during a heated exchange.

It also seems that neither Suarez nor Terry are considered racist by the FA, it was the language they were both penailsed for not the intent.

Another master stroke from Rogers I see.

Right, some of our players have reputations for diving, and hence have "boy who cried wolf" syndrome, so if we all start diving, they won't be so obvious.

Okay Brendan. Just when I think you're doing good things with youth...

Not like you to have no words about Liverpool Atticus :)

    • Rather than zero tolerance, a term I should have not used, I should have referred to crime,  No crime (excluding some things which really should not be criminalised) should be tolerated (albeit the reaction to a naughty 13 year old will be different to a violent criminal, and similarly those with mental health issues there will be some flexibility), I' was talking zero crime, which is impossible. New York was vastly improved, what happened to that wonderful Giuliani chap? US is not a role model of course, homicides per head dwarf the UK; the damage that white flight and the desolation of inner cities that happened to  many places such as Baltimore, Washington DC and Detroit is difficult to turn round Much rather move this debate to the Lounge!

The team have been short  staffed for a number of months as one officer was injured trying to arrest a shoplifter - unfortunately the shoplifter got away but the officer was left with fractures. We regularly see one or two of the police team around the Dulwich Hill area (they were recently in Landells Road)  Dulwich Hill SNT are hoping to resume their Cuppa with a Copper sessions but are frequently asked to support colleagues policing the various protest marches.  The next Dulwich Hill SNT meeting is scheduled for December (date to be confirmed) The attack on the young woman would come under the Goose Green SNT.
