You're not wrong SJ, but unless he continues to be benched, I tend to side with Otta's point about the press creating mischief. Rooney's not a natural conditioned athlete like a Giggs or Ronaldo. He missed a couple of games with 'flu before the weekend game against Norwich, and looked like he needed more game time. In the past I think Fergie would've played an 80% fit Rooney, but with the promising development and maturing of Welbeck and Cleverly he didn't need to take that risk. It will be interesting to see what team he puts out against Chelsea...

ITV have been on the phone wanting exclusive rights to the big local derby, Otta v Jah, but I warned them it could get messy, especially around throwing out time...

ha ha, same here on miwaw.

Was actually going to go with a shock 1-0 barnsley win, but then decided it was unlikely so my heart gave them a little consolation bonus in the hope of a really good cup tie.

That's my problem, I still tend to vote what I want rather than what I think.

With Liverpool hosting Tottenham on Sunday there is every chance that the two of us will be watching the match together in the pub. It could get very messy indeed.

I'm off to White Hart Lane tonight for the game against Inter-Milan and hope we'll equip ourselves as well as the last time they visited the us (a 3-1 win for Spurs and Bale tore Maicon apart). Hopefully, we'll still be able to get a good result at Anfield on Sunday too.

What are the chances.........Bale to Madrid, Ronnie back to Manchester and Rooney to Paris? I wouldn't be too sorry to see Rooney leave United and I'd like Ronaldo to come back. I put Bale into the equation as Madrid would need a big signing to compensate losing Ronaldo. Maybe I should try and get a job with a tabloid.
I think Roy Keane started the "end game" scenario for Rooney with his comments before the game on the telly the other night. The tabloids have just followed suit. I don't think he's been the first name on the team sheet for a long time though. As for Bale I'm certain he will stay at least another season at Spurs if we get Champions League this year.

Absolutely otta, which is why this situation could get messier. Moving a player you don't want is good financially and for team spirit

Having someone on 250k a week (relatively) kicking his heels while the rest of the team (most if not all) on far less, will be a big problem to manage.

But either way, it's not media making mischief. It's a problem for the club and for Rooney

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
    • Truly horrific. Being passive or fighting back is what many of us think about by violent theft.
