Perhaps WH fans will get off BFS's back then. He isn't a long ball merchant as everyone takes him to be. Very unfair on him.

Not unfair - he IS. In today's paper he moans about being labelled one - which he denies - then says "Here's a question: if the club against whom you're playing have spent ?100million more than you have but can't cope with your team's tactics who is the guilty party?"

That's a bloody admission. Not just the long-ball it's the "There-are-away-games-against-big-teams-we-can't-win-so-we-may-as-well-not-bother-too-much-and-save-ourselves-for-the-home-games-to-guarantee-survival-but-f*ck-all-else" attitude. I hope he goes.

Charles Green has told Rangers' board he intends to leave his chief executive role "with immediate effect".

Green took up the position last summer after leading a consortium that purchased the assets of the liquidated Rangers Football Club plc.

He is now the subject of an independent investigation, commissioned by the club's board, following allegations of covert dealings with former Rangers owner Craig Whyte.

Green says it's "appropriatew" to leave.

A club spokesman told the London Stock Exchange: "Recent weeks have seen media interest in the circumstances surrounding the period prior to the acquisition of the club by the consortium led by Mr Green.

"Whilst Mr Green strenuously denies any wrongdoing, he has recognised that this negative publicity is a distraction and is detracting from the achievements and reputation of the club.

Have a look at the 2nd set of stats for passes. There isn't much difference between WH and Man U for example apart from the number of short passes.

Stats schmats they don't prove anything - after all a couple of players can rack up the pass count by meaningless exchanges in harmless areas of the pitch. But stats and 'tables' are what BFS relies on too - "Look at the figures - we're not as long ball as some teams...etc etc\" -

I am not trying to present a reasoned unbiased argument like a Lawro et al - I just don't like the way things are developing. We're not Bolton or Stoke and I would rather be relegated again and rebuild from scratch than use muscle as a substitute for skill. Mad innit?

To celebrate staying up....this, any guesses what this table is (not hard)

1. Man Utd (21)

2. Arsenal (21)

3. Chelsea (21)

4. Tottenham (21)

5. Liverpool (21)

6. Everton (21)

7. Aston Villa (21)

8. Newcastle (19)

9. Blackburn (18)

10. West Ham (17)

11. Man City (16)

12. Middlesbrough (14)

13. Southhampton (14)

14. Bolton (13)

15. Leeds Utd (12)

16. Fulham (12)

17. Sunderland (12)

18. Coventry City (9)

19. Wimbledon (8)

20. Charlton (8)

    • I guess it's best to do what most Brits do these days, keep your head down and say nothing! although that's probably why this country is in the mess it is today!  😞
    • @Dulwichway Absolutely - I'm in no way trying to say that what happened was life-changing. I've encountered way worse situations and think of myself as pretty tough, which is why I took them on and got pelted. I suppose I'm just taken aback because the park always seemed so safe. But the stats I've just posted contradict that.   I suppose the one of the points of this thread is to point out that they weren't just numpty youths - I'd bet money on some of them being involved in more serious criminality. And to tell others to be vigilant.
    • Still, I guess it could be a lot worse than water being thrown at you by these numpty youths during these warmer times? thankfully it wasn't the more dangerous mugging type youths that crossed your path waving knifes and guns in your face!  just a thought? hopefully these muppets will get sorted by plod soon, but don't hold your breath.
    • Another dramatic spike the previous May 24 -  both crimes around the car park -  could this be related to the massively increased numbers of people around Gala time?
