Does your USB Device show up in mycomputer or device manager..

I have known in the past that Windows does not recognise A USB Stick because system security has been changed.

Or you may need to reload the Device Drivers.

It may well be worth trying your USB Device on another computer..

Thats the first thing to try..

Chica1 - I'm not really sure what the point of your post is. I asked for help earlier today, I have been at work, I have checked back to see if there has been any response after finishing work and I have responded to DulwichFox with my thanks. I'm sure if DulwichFox felt that I had been in any way rude by not responding immediately it would be for them to let me know.

The point of my post is that you posted @ 3:14, DF replied @4:56, & my post @ 5:48. That was a good over 2 1/2 hrs past before you responded & only after I posted.

When people post here asking for something, I 'm quite sure they tend to always look in here, I'll say quite frequently, to see replies, it's just common sense & also it's a matter of courtesy to at least acknowledge responses.

You must take into account also that FMs who post reply esp when offering advise would also feel anxious too to know whether they were able to help.

I've been on both sides before ie asking for advice and offering advice so I know how it feels.

Just saw Fox's reply -

Fine if you're not offended but I think it's still common courtesy for people asking for assistance to acknowledge such gesture when given one.

I agree with Foxy. Bit harsh Chica1. Sometimes people have other things such as work or children to be getting on with, not just sitting on the forum waiting to post or for a reply.

I normally check the forum in the morning and again late afternoon - a gap of sometimes 7 or 8 hours!

Hi,

Not sure if you're salvaged all the data but I had two memory sticks which both completely died. I tried a local company in East Dulwich who were great but unable to help. In the end I found a company online who retrieved everything. It did cost about ?200-?300 so I guess it depends how crucial the documents are! PM me if you'd like their contact details.

It could be a simple registry change.

If you are familiar with the Registry you could try and change the Start Data Value

If you are not familiar. Leave well alone. You Could do some serious damage to your Operating System .

If you check the following Reg Key Start value

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor\Start to 4 (Disable)

Changing this value to 3 could be the answer to your problem.

This method is used by System Administrators to disable Memory sticks so employees cannot use them on company PCs

    • What ever they decide I would have thought that the skate park would not be staying but really hope I am wrong as in my minds eye, I see the skate park as potential parking spaces after all if it is going to be community, flats, retail units, cafe, etc folks are going to want to have the parking availability - Amir like the parade of shops opposite. if the skate park goes then I think it is Dulwich Estate obligation to find another suitable area… a lot of community spirit and hard work went into developing the skate park and the youngsters should be very proud of what they have done  and achieved.
    • Hi all My car was stolen between 1.30pm-1.50pm today in SE22 East Dulwich in South East London. I have of course reported this to the police but not much is being done, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The registration is GM66YOV, though its possible the licence plate may have been changed by now. If you see it anywhere please contact me or the police. Thankyou!
    • Years ago, got my ears pierced, alcohol on site, gun ..done.. Simple.. Gosh, surely your daughter of mothers can recommend  - do you really need to post on forum? Or maybe you home school whatever.. still recovering from shock, posted along the lines of, advice needed about adopting/ buying a dog…. Guess I am now at a age, where I should just keep quiet and pass no comment and read  postings like a “soap” - cheaper than tv licence…
