Southwark Sports Lawn Bowls Open Day - 2nd June 2018

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at playing lawn bowls? Perhaps you've watched it on TV or seen it being played at your local park. Bowls is an accessible game that's quick to learn and combines physical activity with precision, patience and power. Bowls truly is an enjoyable sport for all - all ages, all sexes and all abilities.

If you might be interested in giving it a try, Southwark Sports Lawn Bowls Club will be holding their annual Open Day on 2nd June 2018. The open day is an annual event where the club invites newcomers to come and meet members of the club, who will take you out on the bowling green and show you how to play lawn bowls.

We are based in a beautiful setting at 37 Dulwich Common, SE21 7EU. We are just off Lordship Lane and our bowling green backs on to Dulwich Park. We have charming gardens surrounding the bowling green, it is a real hidden gem, even lifelong Dulwich folk are amazed when they set eyes on our beautiful venue. With white wooden huts and palm trees surrounding the lawn bowls green it makes it an ideal area for outdoor parties and events. All in a completely private, secluded setting. For more detailed information about our location please check the website

All are welcome to come along and join in. Bring the family with you. Bring your own picnic. We will have an outdoor bar with very reasonable bar prices. We will be setting up an outdoor PA to keep you entertained while you are playing. Members of the club will take you out on the green to give you all the coaching need to make you a star player. All equipment is provided ? just remember to wear flat shoes. Our bowling green does not take kindly to stilettos.

We invite you to just turn up on the day, midday onwards, but if you would like any more information then please get in touch

    • I would leave London, or at a push move back to north London. In SE London if you want to get away in a car you are trapped, always an hour to go the first 10 miles, chugging up to the M4 or round the south circular, which is really just a line someone drew connecting a load of roads. and I know there are trains but first you have to get to those mainline stations, unless you only want to leave London to go to Kent. which I don't.
    • It was you who  made it personal in the first place,  Jazzer. You said you didn't feel safe in the streets,  and you said you didn't go to Central London because you didn't feel safe there. So are you now saying that wasn't "personal"? "Fire from the hip." Another interesting choice of words 🙄 I'm not "demanding" anything! I asked you some perfectly reasonable questions in  response to your own statements. None of which you have answered. Never mind. It seems to be pointless having a discussion with you. It's long past my bedtime. I'm going to turn on my sleep app  and go to sleep 😴💤
    • Hi Forumites, This afternoon someone in a dark blue/black saloon car collided with my parked car on Thompson Road, SE22 9JR. I have a neighbour’s doorbell cam footage of the collision at 14:30 19/09/2025 but am unable to identify the registration plate. If anyone has footage of a car travelling down Thompson Road towards Crystal Palace Road at that time please PM me. Of course if the Perp would like to confess they can also PM me. Thankyou.
    • Fireworks again tonight, Melbourne Grove North LTN area.
