Two proof points of the same thing, surely: that men (presumably older ones if they're in positions to make these decisions) are still treating women as inferior to men, chiefly because they are women.

So in the NHS female doctors are (by last week's account) 25% 'less than' male doctors in the same roles. If those in power have already deemed women to be inferior to their male colleagues, why on earth would they promote them?

When I was at school we accepted that women could do anything men could. That was going on for forty years ago. For public institutions (never mind the private sector) to be doing this still and, worse, showing no urgency to close the gap now it has been proven, is utterly sickening and indefensible.

And if you're a woman, don't expect to be taken seriously or promoted after the age of 45.

    • Yes, Dulwich Village commands a premium and justifiably so given access to the City via London Bridge plus the top rate schools within walking distance.  The bus services are really good also - 37, 42 and P4. The P4 is useful for connecting to the Victoria line at Brixton. It's worthwhile waiting for the right property. I know of one which will be coming on the market in a few weeks - 4 bedrooms and south facing garden circa £2.5m.
    • This is an utterly foolish and alarmist statement, completely at odds with reality.
    • I realise this is highly unlikely, but if anyone has a colour laser printer in very good working order, I'd be delighted to take it off your hands!
    • I found Leon on EDF and I could not be happier with the work he has completed for us. He changed a number of switches and fitted a ceiling light.  He was polite, tidy and arrived exactly on time. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for an electrician 07707 925039
