It's not Farrow and Ball paint, it's their own brand. We used it on our front door ages ago. I think they also do bathroom fixtures/fittings as well as the tiles you mention.

Dulwich Vlllage is prime for a small marketing outpost for an outfit like this (or Farrow and Ball). It doesn't have to make much money they could run it for a few years only to build profile and shift enough high margin floor tiles. Remember, this is a land where overblown kitchens that look like a Dalek's bedroom and cost 100k+ are not uncommon with a nice little overflow into ED where houses are getting more aspirationally fancy. Will it be useful to Village residents on a daily basis in the way many ED shops are? Of course not. I sometimes wish the village powers that be would take a peek at what the Howard De Walden estate have achieved

in Marylebone, where the larger chains are limited but basically subsidise smaller independent stores to get a healthy, diverse commercial mix. The Dulwich Estate does a great job of preserving the village feel in all respects but choice of commercial tenant - Pizza Express and Cafe Rouge always seem like a jarring contradiction to me.

They used to have a large and wonderful range of really nice and unusual wall tiles.

And now they don't. Just enormously expensive free-standing kitchen furniture which I wish I could afford :))

I really dislike fitted kitchens but somehow think Fired Earth have managed to make a whole collection of the stuff look like the 'free standing' equivalent of a fitted kitchen, if that makes any sense...

Either that or I'm just jealous :-S

Oh how boring.

But it is as Mr Ben alludes to, true to form. Dulwich estates are pretty dire in their tenant choice and the F.E shop proves the rule.

If it's paint your after then F.E under performs compared to Little Green co. or Farrow & Ball.

Anyway, don't I sound the "grump" today.

Farrow & Ball is one of the worst paints I have ever used.

Top tip - if anything in Fired Earth takes your fancy, take a day trip to the outskirts of Banbury in Oxfordshire and go to the factory outlet store. Still comparitivly expensive but a snip compared to full price and it is good quality stuff. I have a cupboard full of emulsion paint I picked up for ?1 a tin (2.5L). Any transport costs from here would easily be outwieghed with savings.

Putting aside all the usual fluff about Farrow and Ball - can anyone tell me if I can successfully colour match F&B in Dulux (ast a decent outlet) and if so will anyone be able to tell the difference? (apart from the ?340 extra in my pocket)

i think some locations have a scanning device / colour temperature reader to inform the mixing machine

No they can't but they can get. Lose. The Dulux spectrometer will match the nearest Dulux colour to the F&B.

If you want to match it, then go to Whites of Brockly & ask for John

He's your man for top top advice
