Bi weekly bin collections

Yes Sue, that was why I posted it. I feel when big companies are given contracts, especially a company like this, who are also involved in the global water management, believe they do not have to answer to the likes of you or me. I my be naive

but i believe the problem with recycling can be dealt with much more sufficient if it was community lead.

Have you reported it to the council? They will just do nothing otherwise, their collection schedule appears to be completely up the creek.

ETA: Mind you don't hold your breath, I'm still waiting for the smaller green bin I ordered. Admittedly they said they couldn't say when I would get it, so I have no idea when is a reasonable time after which to chase them ....

Be glad you've got a blue wheelie bin. we got just one extra blue box AND they've taken the blue bag. Nothing like enough space for our recycling over two weeks. Repeated calls to the council have failed to produce a blue bin. And yes we do live in a house - the rest of the street (almost) have their ins, but not us, and a few other houses. Surely they calculated how many they would need....

Hi Charlie Charlie,

Your china bowl and plate is a great idea - much less disgusting. Anything would be better than my current setup.

That website is good too - I might show it to my pupils as I'm always talking about (I should live by them too, not just talk about them!) the 6 R's.

Thank you

Are you on Crystal Palace Road Horsebox? Our blue bin is over flowing and was not collected today. If bins are only to be collected fortnightly, they need to make sure the collections are on schedule, there is no margin to squeezea bit more in.

So was mine, but it should have been collected yesterday.

What is the point of having a schedule if they don't stick to it?

And I ordered a smaller green bin on 21 September - exactly four weeks ago today - and there's no sign of that arriving, either, despite the council saying they would swap it for the existing one "as soon as they can".

I know this recycling change was a big one, and some mistakes are to be expected whilst it's bedding in, but even so .... we are just the people who are posting about them on here. How many more must there be across the whole borough?

Is anybody at the council monitoring the new scheme to make sure it's working as it should be?

You only have to get rid of the blue plastic boxes if you want to keep the hideous bright blue wheelie bin.

If you don't want to keep the wheelie bin, you can continue to use the boxes.

Some people appear to like all the plastic :-S, judging by some of the posts on

This Thread!

Brown bin collected yesterday Blue bin not collected. I'm on Crystal Palace Road. My recycling was last collected on the 27th September. I called the council and my blue bin should be collected by the 24th October, I mentioned most Blue bins on Crystal Palace Road was not collected and will all the blue bins be collected by the 24th, she said no, apparently if a non collection is not reported, it will not be collected.

I suggest if you live on Crystal palace Road report your non collection on 02075252000 or via the website.

This is an absolute nonsense, and I guess this person is the same person I spoke to a few weeks back when I phoned to report a missed collection and said that none of the bins in our road (parallel to yours) had been emptied. She told me the same as you.

The council has a schedule and surely if one or two people in a street are reporting a missed collection, they should investigate to see if the whole street has been missed out - and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Surely they are not sending a separate van out for each missed collection report?

Totally agree Sue.

I also sent a follow up email, and attached this thread.
