Who said there's no such thing as a free lunch. I would like to start a thread listing some of the great music and performances free in London this weekend.

Nahini Doumbia & Les Espoirs du Mali

Friday 16 September 2011 5:30pm

Mali's master drummer Nahini Doumbia is one of Africa's finest djembe players and a key member of The Master Drummers of Africa. Today he leads his ensemble Les Espoirs Du Mali for a dazzling showcase of the power of djembe drums in Malian music.

There's a host of free events ranging from soul to funk, gospel to reggae at the South Bank Centre this weekend. Have a look at their website.

Does anyone know of any other free event in London this weekend?

    • if I think of Corbyn dealing with a global pandemic (a lot of his supporters and some of his family come from the woo end of the spectrum - his brother is a proper anti-vax nut), then the  invasion of Ukraine (Corbyn long record of not exactly condemning Putin even as he killed people on British soil and many other matters, I  really do shudder
    • If no one else has a problem, then it sugggests that the delivery person may not be aware of any harm and would respond well to a conversation. It also goes without saying that just because no one else has a problem, that the OP is not valid in raising their issues.

    • Is anyone else having difficulty booking Silver Swim sessions (Tuesday and Thursday between 3pm-4pm?) Almost all the spaces are taken before the online booking system opens at 10pm several days before. Last night there appeared to be one space available for next Tuesday. I tried to book at one second past 10pm but was unsuccessful. This seems to have been a recent phenomenon. I made a telephone call this morning but just received a recorded message saying that the voicemail box was full. Am I right in assuming that in person bookings are now taking precedence over online ones?
