Hi all,

I volunteer for an organisation called Drugsand.me and we run workshops for parents of teenagers who are wondering how to speak to their kids about drugs.

I grew up in E Dulwich myself and from my experience growing up in London I was exposed to drugs like cigarettes, weed and alcohol much earlier than might have been the case had I grown up outside of the city. Luckily I had an open and honest relationship with my parents which meant that I could talk to them about these experiences and navigate a safe path through this difficult landscape. This event focuses specifically on techniques and ways of talking to young people, so as to open a dialogue and empower them to make informed and educated decisions.

The event is only ?7 for a two hour workshop so is really good value for money!

Link to the event is below, please let me know if you have any questions. [email protected].

From my experience late teenagers may well know more than there parents. It is good what you are doing but I would not make out this is a London or city problem. There are loads of good infographics on the net - this one shows high use of speed in Wales, vs e in London https://www.indy100.com/article/the-map-of-england-and-wales-by-drug-of-preference--bkeS7SJxxvZ

Cannabis use highest in the West Country https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/749806/Drug-use-UK-West-country-cannabis-capital-London-cocaine-ecstasy

Although this one suggests coke is the choice of the big Cities: https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/drugs-map-uk-reveals-plymouths-1093147

Thanks for distracting me from politics. I wonder what was said in the Queens Speech about tackling drug use. Oh no, I've relapsed. Give me some mind altering chemicals now.

    • ...and so, 4 years on from the "dramatic planning meeting" that approved the "meganursery", how has it all worked out in reality? The building looks nice from the outside - but I don't know anything more. Did either of the nursery businesses on EDG fail because there was no demand for nursery places in East Dulwich? Did Carmageddon on East Dulwich Grove get worse? Were pre-COVID work patterns abandoned forever (lol)? Were some of the concerns expressed in opposition to the planning application a teensy bit overblown...? https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/mega-nursery-approved-amid-dramatic-planning-meeting/
    • If I don’t feed the birds, they’ve actually come and perched on the fence and stared directly at me through the window. The squirrels do that too.
    • Reading The words 'Artisan'  and 'Curated' when refering to my 'Breakfast Bundle' frankly make me feel a bit..🤢
    • I would recommend Coopers bakehouse, which offer a similar service to B&C but it’s just focussed on really good bread, decent prices and keeps for ages (also freezes well).  Delivered by bike.
