'New milkman' knocking on doors

Just had a knock on the door from guy asking if I get my milk delivered & if I'd like it delivered, said he was the new milkman? A bit odd this time of evening & a bit odd anyway I thought. He had no id or anything or leaflets. He appeared to be randomly knocking on doors round Upland Rd. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

I live in the area and have milk delivered through Dairy Crest - we've had the same milkman for the past couple of years so not sure who it would be? Unless there's a new company that also serves the area?

I have a dairycrest milkman deliver milk in Forest Hill. He started his round in our street a few years ago by knocking on our door of an evening and introducing himself to gain new customers. He didn't have id or uniform but took details on dairycrest booking form.

Assuming its the same guy we had him round a few months ago and do now have our milk delivered by him so should all be legit.

thanks for everyone's replies, just seemed a bit odd to me him knocking late in the evening, he didn't have any leaflets or anything to take notes, didn't say which company he was with & I didn't ask as didn't want to get into discussion.

Just a thought, and assuming he is legit: when else should he have called round? Not sure I'd call 8pm all that late, assuming he wants to ensure people are home and have been for a little while so they have a moment to talk.

Quite A smart time to come round if you ask me I assume he is doing his round during the day and many people are out at work or rioting or Barking.

They do the rounds in the middle of the night - about 4 am I think? I doubt he'd do much business knocking people up at that hour:))
