New Peckham Rye Play Area
DrinkingBuddy replied to early_doors's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It?s very nicely done and my eldest (8) loved it, but my younger (6) is a wheelchair user and absolutely nothing is accessible for him. -
Boutflower Builders have done a great job on our house, although they do tend to have a bit of a waiting list - http://www.boutflower.co.uk/

Attempted burglary - Trossachs Road - 5pm 3 April
DrinkingBuddy replied to ak100's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We just had what we assume was an attempted burglary on Hansler Road. Our children were home with their nanny who heard someone at the door and assumed it was my wife or I home early. When the noise continued she went to open the door, assuming we were having trouble and the person ran away. Nanny?s description was of a black man with shaved black hair, wearing a black bomber jacket and black trousers, about 5 ft 8? tall. Have submitted a report to the police online. -

DrinkingBuddy replied to marie68's topic in Request a Tradesperson
We had a lovely time at the function room at the Rosendale for a 40th, not sure if they can open until 2am. -
Possible Japanese knotweed on Oglander Road
DrinkingBuddy replied to flocker spotter's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Fairly sure this in bindweed rather than knotweed. Knotweed genuinely grows into thick stalks that stand up by themselves like bamboo, whereas bindweed is a climber. It does grow incredibly fast, particularly during the spring and summer, but to the best of my knowledge doesn?t have any ill effects on anything other than other plants which it can strangle. -
You can register a car with a blue badge, this is generally done to enable a car to park in a specific bay without the badge (normally the bay outside a blue badge holders house as cars are frequently broken in to to steal the blue badge). That being said, not many people do this and it obviously doesn't help those who don't have their own car but have a badge and friends or carers that help them. As far as I'm aware, there is no obligation for a car park owner to make blue badge parking free, rather provide the spaces in accessible locations. Of course in practise it is common for them to be free.

It would be nice if the EDF was optimised for mobile. Just saying. -
I've lived in ED for the last 8 years having previously lived at various points along the Northern Line from Finchley to Tooting and various places in between in the decade before. I have never lived anywhere the transport was better. I'm not going to fall into calling it good, but (at least for me commuting to CW) the options of travelling via overground (DH and FH), train to Lewisham followed by DLR, ED to London Bridge and the option of cycling via Tower Bridge or Greenwich has made it far and away the most flexible (and far more pleasant than the Northern line) location I've ever lived. Now to be fair, I would prefer to leave London and accept a longer commute to get a better location for the little Drinking Buddies, but Mrs. Drinking Buddy is long since wed to the area. I would highlight that the bus services have become noticably worse in the last year or so, but I would suggest that is a problem easily solved with the correct pressure on the powers that be.

Nordoff Robbins is an organisation that provides music therapy for people with special needs. Whilst not quite what you're asking for they obviously have musicians who are used to teaching people with special needs at varying levels. They're based in Croyden https://www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk

Aggressive behaviour from classic lofts...
DrinkingBuddy replied to Honoroaky's topic in Request a Tradesperson
We had our loft done by Classic and to be fair to them the job was excellent, but then we didn't have to deal with being abused by them. -
Are you sure it's not Yo! ? There is a craze based around an app that just let's you chat the word Yo to your friends (www.justyo.co) Can't say I understand it, but it could be kids expanding on the idea.

The old Irish Shop is going to be part of the new cinema.

We don't have police response. We've had a few different failures, sometimes preventing you from setting the alarm, other times causing it to go off. They've always come out the same day when its gone off but only if we pay a call out charge otherwise they don't even guarantee that. Obviously you have no choice when you have an alarm going off. Could be worth popping in to Callows locksmiths to ask their advice.

We have Banham and have had nothing but problems. The sensors go wrong between services without fail and you always get hit with an emergency call out charge. My advice would be to keep clear.

Just seen this - are we at chain tipping point locally?
DrinkingBuddy replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Its relatively rare around here for shops to own their retail premesis. If EDD doesn't but has a sound lease the sale would be purely for of the building with the deli unaffected. Indeed given the price that would be my guess as a sitting Tennant with a long lease would suppress the price. -
Tsunami opened a few months before the infamous Christmas tsunami (not the Japanese one). Guess its kind of hard to change your restaurants name after the event and probablyseemed a better idea before hand.

Lucas is closing down to be replaced by a sushi restaurant according to info from other local retailers. Based on job ads in industry press it has been suggested that the new sushi restaurant will be a sister restaurant of Tsunami, a sushi restaurant in Clapham which does very good food.
-
Tsunami from Clapham apparently, which would be great.

Sorsi & Morsi is exceptionally child friendly. Always seem delighted to see our very young kids.
