I was assaulted and robbed at 12:55am on Copleston Road, just off Grove Vale on Friday night (23/9/2011), by two non-white youths. I was lucky to escape serious injury - though I was punched multiple times to my head and ribs. I just wanted to let people know and to be safe - the attack happened only a few hundred yards from the East Dulwich Tavern which I had just left.

A very kind gentleman found my credit card and driving license by the Magnolia Pub on Lordship Lane. If anyone else has found any other items with A Taylor on them or a dark brown leather Mulberry wallet I would be grateful if you can let me know. I can't imagine my i-phone will have been thrown away! The same gentleman suggested I alert everyone on this forum.

Sorry to hear that. Do you think you were assulted because you had an iphone or was it just random? It seems iphones are the thing to steal at the moment if the reports are a true reflection. Thanks for reporting it though. It may save someone from having the same experience.
Yes, I was answering a call as I left the pub - so I'm sure that is why I was selected. That said, I'm sure they would have assaulted someone that night, even if a phone wasn't flashed. They were clearly lying in wait for a victim. I've told the Police.

There is - one guy even managed to get his laptop camera (ok that was an apple laptop) to take pics of the scum before getting the cops to pay a visit.

findmyiphone app is the start.

Could he not just have fallen off?

Bit difficult to call police when the robbery happens if somebody has nicked your phone .....

Ummm really sorry to hear about this. It happened to me a few years ago outside the police station. I have to say the police were completely useless. They seem to wait in a car, follow you and then jump out just when its a bit dark (like at the back of the police station!).

We all must be aware but not paranoid!

Be careful on the No.12 bus as well, I was mugged on that the other week at about 6:15pm on a Friday evening so when the bus was pretty packed. Helpfully the cctv wasn't working. As muggings go it was pretty mild to be fair - physically unscathed and he dropped my bag so just got my ipad which I stupidly had on display. Apparently it's not the first time it's happened, I think it was a kid taking an opportunity rather than hanging around in wait so less sinister. I don't think any area is particularly less safe than it was, these things happen and it's unpleasant but unfortunately they do.

    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
    • Dawson Heights again  2 lifts out of order at ladlands block Christmas Eve so of course the 🛗 will not be repaired tomorrow Christmas Day or Boxing Day or when how do elderly or mothers with children and prams and food and presents get to the floors and with the 10 minutes you get to drop off  to park and not get a Pcn fine and delivery food to relatives who can’t leave their house unbelievable Southern housing does any know email address of Coe of southern housing
    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
