no, not in the slightest

just imagine that it was your child in the cave there, found by the sheerest luck and rescued in the nick of time through the expenditure of a huge amount of effort and goodwill - would you be forgiving the coach?

interesting also to see the use of cultural relativism - 'thais do it differently' - as a justification.

i don't know whether child endangerment is a crime in thailand, but it is also a place where feudal power structures persist, to the extent that no Thai may stand in the presence of the king, and of course a notorious centre of exploitation of women and children.

those conditions are more likely to account for the resignation and gratitude shown by the peasant families whose sons were trapped in the cave than 'buddhist forbearance'

You seem just lovely. If you want a good debate/argument, this forum will provide in spades, but really, why do you and two or three others get off on joining threads for no reason other than to call them boring, or "drivel" or whatever? Whom does it benefit? Does it make you happy? If so, seek help.

I am lovely thank you, and you're another person who delights in critical clap trap so don't bother in joining the bandwagon.

You just have to click on their name and look at their posts on the two forum games where they appear to spend most time to get a feel for what kind of person they are.

Ah yes, I see. A lovely person indeed, as lovely as a ten-year-old scrawling obscenities on a lavatory wall. Can't see a single comment that's not a stupid joke to attempt to belittle others or just to say that a thread is boring, or "sucks". Pathetically sad. Strongly suspect from their tone and attitude it's one of the previously banned come back in another guise.

i may have rushed to judgement KK, apols, and what i've since read about the coach's actions in the cave makes me reconsider my views a little bit - but no change in my total admiration for the rescue teams

    • You'd need to get a proper quote (or three) for instance removing a cast iron bath is a very different job from removing an acrylic one. Again what pipe work will be being joined into - matching old imperial pipes with modern metric ones is different from like to like, as is dealing with a copper or an iron distribution system. The amount (area) of retiling required is an issue, as will be the state of the wall behind the tiles. It may of course all be very plain sailing, or not. Have a first look at plumber recommendations on the relevant pages on this site. If it's all easy then 3 days work may be sufficient. But it could be a week if there are snags.
    • Hi. Can anyone suggest a plumber for the job below? Replace bath tub with a shower enclosure, putting pipes to showerhead behind wall, re-titling damaged/removed tiles Also any idea of the costs involved for the labour as we will buy the items required?
    • Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
