Saffron
My daughter has a bath every night, but it usually just involves splashing around in some warm water. I try to get a bit of baby soap on her hands/face/feet. Sometimes I put a little conditioner on the ends of her hair. But honestly, if she doesn't get any soap at all, I think plain water is fine. I only really wash her hair once every week or two. It depends on if we have been swimming. Don't make bath time hard on yourself. If your LO doesn't want her hair washed, then just leave it. Or, pour a little warm water on the back of her head if it makes you feel proactive. :) She'll be just fine without a shampoo. xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19778-baby-bath/#findComment-478045 Share on other sites

chantelle
my 3 year old son hates hair washing. One thing that has made him better able to cope is to give him a dry flannel to hold over his eyes (although it gets wet when i pour a bowl of water over his head to rinse). I also just noticed a little jug you can buy on ebay that conforms to the top of the head so that you are only pouring water back from the hairline, but the child must tip their head at least slightly. as far as amount of baths - only 1-2 week, maybe 3 on the odd dirty week. He has a recurring rash thing that made us cut back to one time/week for a long time. bluesuperted
We do a bath every other night unless he's really dirty for some reason (13.5 months). We don't use shampoo at all on him (and only rarely use baby bubbles) and he smells lovely and his hair is always nice and shiny. I think baby/toddler shampoo is a bit of a con really, plain water does a fab job, is nice and natural and added bonus is, it's free! Ruth_Baldock
Both babies (2mo and 21mo) have a bath every night- part of the sacred bedtime routine. My son has his hair washed around once a week or so and rarely with shampoo- only if he's got suncream or sand in it or something. We use lavender oil, if anything, in the bath. More ??? for Mummy to buy herself extortiante and unnecessary Lush products that way... BellendenBear
Washing hair in the shower is much easier than the bath. If you let them splash around while you have your shower you can get their hair when they're not expecting it. Sometimes my daughter hardly notices. Much easier to rinse off shampoo and avoid eyes too.In answer to your question, not very often and mainly for fun. Hair wash about once per week and usually because we've been swimming. crystal7
Am I the only one whose toddler's hair is covered in food/paint/playdough/milk etc at the end of each day and therefore needs it washing?? It is quite long though...Baths every night for us- scared to disrupt the routine! Quite a nice way to end the day (if they enjoy it) we wash E's hair with a watering can which seems to make it fun. pebbles
Top top - buy snorkel and mask and get them to hold mask over eyes (better than swimming goggles) and then u can wash their hair and let water over their faces without them freaking it's in their eyes. :)I bath them about 5x a wk. Not set night when I don't just when I'm tired and can't be bothered :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19778-baby-bath/#findComment-478355 Share on other sites
Pickle
My two have a bath every night, mainly because they enjoy it and as Mr Pickle is generally home by bathtime it's a nice way for him to spend time with them. We wash their hair a couple of times a week, maybe more if, like today, they are sweaty little messes by the end of the day! new mother
This is very interesting. I had assumed most people bathed children every night and did hair too, as we have always done. I started as I was told by a friend that it was good for establishing a routine/ helpful with sleep patterns and we were very keen to have children who were easy to get to bed and long sleepers. It worked but I am not sure what would have happened if they hadn't liked water. Both would happy pour a cup of water in their eyes as "play" and giggle like maniacs. In retrospect, probably quite unusual... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19778-baby-bath/#findComment-478401 Share on other sites
