Is there an easy way to transfer contacts from a Sony to an Nokia given that the sim only holds 200 numbers and there are nearly 400 to be transferred? The problem with using the sim is that I can copy to it from the Sony (and then transfer) but not delete what I'm copying, thus the numbers on the old phone are not being reduced. Repeating this process just copies what it did originally.

Some of the fancier phones in the past few years have been able to batch transfer details via bluetooth, worth seeing if you have that option if both phones equipped.

Depending on how old it is you should be able to use the support software that came with the phone (or download it) to pull all the contacts, sms, other content onto your PC and then use your Nokia's software to push the contacts (in form of vcfs probably) up to your new phone.

I just used MyPhoneExplorer to backup the txts and contacts from an old W800i.

Shouldn't be too difficult to shuffle your details off one and onto the other.

Old stylee phones allow you to do this via the sim card, usually in batches if you have alot of numbers. Just transfer your numbers onto the sim card then put the sim in in the new phone and transfer from the sim to the phone and repeat until everything has been shifted.

You might see some differences in formatting of written information (names being shortened)if you are transferring between makes of phone.

Trouble is with the oldee is that you can copy to sim but don't appear to be able to transfer to sim. Means you could end up copying the same numbers each time and transferring them ad infinitum. There must be a way out of this cycle.

I recently has a bit of a 'mare with a malfunctioning HTC. Having transferred my numbers from old style Nokia to the HTC phone memory, I then discovered that the HTC couldnt read any SD memory card installed. Without that I couldnt transfer anything off the HTC, not even onto the SIM card.

In the end I had to manually type all of my numbers into Outlook, but at least I could synch them back on to my new HTC afterwards.

It was a pain but at least I was able to weed out the many old redundant numbers.

Does your phone's pc software have an export contacts function. Usually it allows to a csv file or somesuch.

I used the csv file to import into google contacts and then synced my new android phone to google contacts.

Bing, took about 2 minutes end-to-end.

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
    • Been with The Gardens now for around 30 years and very rarely do I have a problem. I went in to collect a form and mentioned that my leg was hurting and hot- was seen immediately by the Practice nurse who then arranged an appointment on the Saturday with the Extra care service at TJ Centre where I saw a doctor, who then sent me off to Kings for further tests.. I recently booked a flu jab but appointment is in 2 weeks.
    • Have used Milk and More for years. When the price went up we cancelled a couple of pints but we still have 8 pints a week. If we are expecting family etc we buy from Sainsburys to top up. We kept on with M & M as if weather bad we could order extra stuff from them to save us a trip to Sainsburys Local. Also gives employment to our milkman.
