Saffron
It's all change, again this morning, sheets, duvets, etc, as my daughter had another nappy leak in bed. It seems like recently whenever she sleeps on her front with her knees underneather her, the urine just rolls down the inner front of the nappy and out of the the top. I'm suspecting that changing her last nappy in the dark last night I might not have made it tight enough? But then again how tight do I have to make it?? And, the position she gets herself into seem to make a gap at the front of her nappy no matter how tight I pull it! If I cut off the circulation to her head with the nappy, is that tight enough???!!! Arrrgh.Has this happened to anyone else? Are some brands of nappy better than others for this kind of thing? Or is it (yet another) phase to be suffered through? xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19855-arrrgh-not-another-nappy-leak/ Share on other sites
mrs f
have you tried putting a washable nappy wrap over the top to catch leaks? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19855-arrrgh-not-another-nappy-leak/#findComment-479449 Share on other sites
pripolla
It's happened here too... I tried the next size up and also a different nappy, Pampers Day and Night (or something like that). It worked for us. Good luck! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19855-arrrgh-not-another-nappy-leak/#findComment-479450 Share on other sites
Magnima
I have a boy so it may be different. We use an eco brand called Beaming Baby, they are absolutely the best nappies I've used in terms of absorbency. And I was a nanny for 20 years before having my son,so have used many of the usual brands and tried lots of other eco brands too. I buy them in the Fourways Pharmacy in Herne Hill but I think you can get them in the health food shop on Lordship Lane, sorry can't remember the name. Bonfire2010
Happend to us too and I did the same as pripolla and went up a size which seemed to work. I also tried Toujours (from Lidl) after they got the 'Mumsnet Best' nappy award this year and have found them to be good. They go higher up than other nappies I've tried which seems to 'contain' things! sanity girl
I second the recommendation to put a washable nappy wrap over the top. I have a couple of large sizes you are welcome to borrow to try out. I've also used beaming babies (on those occasions travelling etc when not using cloth) and they were excellent. onefifty
I had the same problem. Just did as an earlier poster said and went up a size to increase absorbency and also use pampers Baby dry. Saffron
I think we may need to go up a size, but absorancy isn't the issue. Sometimes when this kind of leak happens, the nappy is almost dry inside! I think it could be that my daughter is very tall for her age, so her hip is very deep from top to bottom. I might give Toujours a try. We're in Pampers active fit at the moment. sanity girl
I would def try a washable nappy wrap/cover over the top then. They are better at containing leaks as they are elasticated and easier to get a snug fit. Happy to lend you some if you want. The Nappy Lady
Agree - try a Motherease Wrap over the top. Make sure you get the right size for weight of your baby. Norfolkvillas
This happened to us, and I went up a size of nappy, but also, when I put the last nappy of the day on, I made sure to fix the tabs right at the top of the nappy, above the patterned band where you normally fix them. This did the trick and we haven't had a leak since. Yak
Motherease wrap plus motherease nappy plus pampers babydry works a treat on my lanky baby - again, it wasn't so much about increasing volume as getting good bum coverage, if you see what I mean. There's a thread I started a couple of months ago called heavy wetter at night I can dig out for you.... onefifty
Just remembered another trick we used to use with my son, came from one of the nurses in the NICU. Fold the top of the nappy back in as it create a bit of a lip and keeps the wee from wicking up into the shirt, pjs, bed.
