Does anyone know what is going on with the Opthalmology department at Kings? I've had an eye appointment first pushed back from February to July, and now at the last minute it has been delayed to December! No-one who I can get hold of by phone has any idea what is going on. I will go there in person as soon as I can to try and find out, but wondered if anyone knew...?

Thanks

i've attended Kings' Ophthalmology department for a few years now for a long-term condition and that happens all the time to me.

if your condition is chronic and there is no emergency, they do tend to move appointments - i'm often told to ask for an appointment in 6 months' time, and then get a letter to say my appointment has been pushed back another 6 months,

but i get seen once a year as a minimum, so i assume that there is some kind of review process going on

and when i do get seen, i have to budget for a whole morning or afternoon off in the company of large numbers of very old people who are also being treated - very useful corrective to see how many people are worse off and in greater need of the service than oneself

if you have an emergency, then of course you can get a referral from your gp or be seen via A&E

    • Anyone can deliver for Evri - my daughter having just passed her driving test tried Evri to make some money - they basically give you a route and as many parcels as they think you can cope with - you make money for each one you deliver, so you can imagine - speed is the priority. Why would they wait for you to answer the door when they can just throw it and take a photo? If you have a choice, choose a different courier service or shop elsewhere where they do.
    • Boil - it’s the customer’s fault, not the delivery person’s.
    • A bit of a long shot but I'm on the lookout for a portable pop-up counter or podium.   The kind you often see on a high street, used by charities or utility companies to advertise their wares.   I've included a photo to give you the idea. I'm a peckham-based artist and am looking for one for a free (and non-profit) community art project.  It can be in any workable condition and can already have signage on it as we will remove and redecorate ourselves.    Thanks in advance, Linzie
    • No I absolutely did not - that much is clear. Have you read the latest stories about Unite, Len and the hotel in Birmingham? The UK electorate were smart enough to reject a far-left party in 2019, let's hope they are smart enough to reject a far-right party at the next election too. If not we are all doomed.
