Burning stuff causes significant spikes in air pollution particles- can;t complain about diesels etc and then produce particulates to a greater degree by garden waste burning - https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/feb/01/pollutionwatch-wood-burning-worsening-uk-air-quality

We live in smoke free zone.

Absolutely agree with James - it's not the smell (which personally I find rather evocative) but the particulates, I have a friend with seriously nasty asthma who is in severe danger of a potentially life-threatening attack if she is near these things. Confounds me why anyone still feels the need when the garden waste collection service from Southwark works a treat - is it just a case of "sod it, can't be bothered to bag it up so to hell with the effect on everyone else?"

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
