Hello,

Advice needed, my childs nursery has just said that they only pass on money for children doing 3 days or more, so children going 2 days get nothing. The nursery have recommended us putting him in for an extra day as it works out cheaper, really not satisfactory as i quite like his company!. I really don't want to fall out with them but i'm really annoyed esp as their website states that they pass it on to ALL children.

I don't know many other parents there, what would you do?/ Does anyone get the discount elsewhere on 2 days?

Are they open all year round?

They can offer your your 570 hours spread out over more than 38 weeks

Minimum entitlement is 15h x 38w

They certainly can

Offer you 12.5h over 2 days anyway if they want to but I dint think they are obliged to

Worth speaking to the lea though

Try your local councillor

See 3.4 and 3.9

I don't think they can

Insist you book for more than 15h though

So they ARE prohibited from

Demanding you sign

Up for 3 full days unless they Are very short days! If they are doing that, they are in breach o'c the guidelines to bs registered for the grant

Don't see why you can't arrange a place for 2.5 days ... They can't force him

To attend the half day, can they, really?!

Let us know how it turns out. Thinking about it, if they were insisting you took MORe than 15h they have probably broken their agreement with the council.

Thanks for pm's, it clearly is possible. I am expecting to still have to pay a wack, just given that it would be a ?217 pm discount of we were 3 days I was banking on childcare costs finally easing. It's such a lot of money, worth checking out. Thanks again for the examples from other nursery by pm.

    • I think it's a good idea and follows the example of other towns/areas. As it says in the article, the area around the main tourist attractions in Southwark, that is The Globe, Southwark Cathedral, Tate Modern and the whole walking route from London Bridge to Blackfriars, takes a lot of maintaining and it shouldn't be a burden on regular council tax payers like us.
