Alan Medic
Booked a place in Snowdonia for a few days only for the Airbnb guy to say it was already booked but he hadn't updated the info. Any suggestions please? Looking for countryside/scenery but not far from somewhere to get supplies. rendelharris
Had some great trips to the Forest of Dean in recent years - really beautiful/almost mystical feel, fabulous cycling (on and off road) and walking (Wye Valley down to Tintern Abbey highly recommended), great pubs, plenty of towns around the fringes for supplies, Brecon Beacons/Black Mountains a short drive to the west for more walking and cycling, amazing wildlife, especially birdlife, and all about a three hour drive from ED. Dom Johnston
The New Forest is only a couple of hours drive away and is beautiful. Great country walks and bike rides. Fantastic scenery and a plethora of great pubs for food and ales (Badger and Ringwood Brewery are both very close).Ludlow was also very nice.Stratford upon Avon is great too as you have all the amenities of the town and lots of great countryside within a short walk.Dorset is full of great countryside, Wimborne, Bere Regis, Bridport, Corfe Castle, Swanage (then you're not too far away from Monkey World if you want a day out somewhere). If you want to go further afield, The Lake District is an option too. You have everything up there! Then you have Devon and Cornwall, again expansive countryside with small towns and villages dotted around for essentials. Alan Medic
Jeysus Red, your memory is better than mine that's for sure. Went to West Sussex/Hampshire. Enjoyed it. Will read this thread in more detail as soon as I can. Thanks for the input so far. Robert Poste's Child
Caravan outside the Grove Tavern. Woods, green chain, golf course, tennis and lido on your doorstep, yet close enough to pop home to check you didn't leave the gas on. SpringTime
http://thelongbarn.co.uk/indexRecently stayed there - great for large groups and walking. Sleeps about 40 if you book the whole place. Beautiful beaches 30 mins away and very, very rural. Takes a while to get there though, and you'll probably need to stock up on supplies on the way though owners will cater (and some good food!)
