I know it's Camberwell and not ED (is there a Camberwell forum?). I've been visiting all the local primary schools that my daughter might get into and wondered if anyone with kids at Lyndhurst might PM me their thoughts. I didn't come away feeling positive and wonder if I just caught them on a bad day? Thanks

We visited both Lyndhurst and Dog Kennel Hill and DKH won hands down with their welcoming attitude. I too was dismayed by Lyndhurst. Daughter has been at DKH now for a couple of years and couldn't be happier! All the staff are fantastic and it is a wonderful community. Go with your gut instinct at all times!
I would also be interested in knowing the reasons why you did not like this school, as am considering putting it as an option for my daughters. I have not yet had the chance to visit, but have heard positive things about the school from others... would you mind PMing me with what you didn't like? Thanks
rfoxxi, I dare say your daughter would have been very happy had she spent the last couple of years at Lyndhurst. I say that not just as a longstanding Lyndhurst parent with two children there and one who left a couple of years ago but as someone who believes a balanced view on this is important. One thing to bear in mind for prospective parents at Lyndhurst is that it has moved from 1.5 to 2 form entry and there will be a lot of building work at the school over the next couple of years. The school seems to have considered the consequences of the inevitable disruption very carefully and Southwark will be conducting a formal consultation with parents, children and other stakeholders. I have no regrets about my children being at Lyndhurst but I would also have been happy had we got our first born into DKH. Alec

    • What worries me is all the talk of these foreign architectural styles.  Art Deco (French) and Art  Noveau (Belgium - can you even name ten famous poeple from Belgium),   Thank heavens for good old British Arts and Crafts, harking back to previous times.   What do you think those who are asset poor and cash poor may think?  Don't you feel there is a case for evening things out? Get real.  There are numerous anti-Labour threads and a few of you who clearly hate everything Labour, no doubt going back decades.  Not everyone of course who have posted on this weird thread has such strong views.   For balance there are a lesser number of threads on other political parties and a former prime minister, but they attract far less traffic, and one person seems to go out of their way to defend Farage
    • There is a possibility that poor air quality leads to adult onset asthma.  The Lancet did not confirm this and stated that more work was required.  10,000s of deaths are linked to poor air quality.  Surely it is good that our Mayor wants to further improve air quality.  That is the important aim, rather than pick holes in what he said.

And by the time the government have done their "independent" valuations I think we can expect a lot more to fall into this tax trap.   https://taxpolicy.org.uk/2025/11/27/mansion-tax-map-where-the-money-comes-from/
